March 16, 2010 - The wait for Gears of War 3 may be longer than we thought.

A "trusted US publishing source" has told website Edge the third chapter in the Gears of War series is set for release in April 2011. While still not officially announced by Microsoft, the first teaser trailer for Gears of War 3 is apparently coming as early as next month on April 8, with a full reveal set for June at this year's E3 in Los Angeles.

"Microsoft's keen to avoid a clash with Halo: Reach and wants Natal to own Christmas. That's why we won't be seeing Gears of War 3 until next year, but expect a major marketing push ahead of its release," the source said.

Representatives from both Epic Games and Microsoft told IGN they do not comment on rumors or speculation.

Does nobody here like gears of war? I find this information interesting. I knew gears 3 was well on its way, I actually expected it sooner, but I guess next year aint too bad.

I haven't been online for the past few days... but I'm interested! Gears of War and Gears of War 2 are probably my two favourite 360 games at the moment. I'm very much looking forward to Gears 3 - I just hope the online is better this time around.

Problem is that GoW II thoroughly dissapointed me. Multi-player didn't really bring too many new things and the single player was.... lacking, to say the least. My feelings for GoW III is as such sorta "meh".

So they're not releasing Gears 3 this year because of Reach and Natal?

Gears would easily be my choice out of those three. Although it's interesting to know the release date.

Awesomenessness, I too am a gearsfanatic (shamelessly a member of epic forums)

There's abit of info about, such as the fact we may see rpg elements, etc. Personally Gears is up there with fable for me personally.
