GTA IV viral invades New York

So the Rockstar ad campaign begins...

The Grand Theft Auto ad campaign is starting to kick into gear as Rockstar viral ads swamp the streets of New York City.

The first 'ad' to be spotted is a series of clever "wanted" posters plastered around the Big Apple, calling for tips on the location of GTA IV anti-hero Niko Ballic who's apparently wanted for "assault with a deadly weapon".

E-mail your tips to tips@libertycitypolice.com and you'll get an interesting image in return (which you can see below).

It's not the first time Rockstar has used the streets of New York to advertise its sequel; the company previously had gigantic artwork and logos from the game painted onto the side of NYC buildings.

Considering the always-controversial nature of the game, we're sure the top brass in the city would have something to say about that...

That's pretty cool. Can't say I've ever seen a company advertise a game quite that before, anyway... ^_^

... wonder what will happen if some guy who looks exactly like that happens to walk by, and other pedestrians who notice the viral advert don't see the tiny fine-print "Grand Theft Autio IV" at the bottom. :lol:

Hmm, This is pretty cool. But not unique in the way of "irl ads". In the 90's some violent, not very popular game, was advertised by trying to buy place for an Ad on people's gravestones. And they succeded :O
