Guilt By Association?

I'm wondering about how the world will react to a good player with an evil henchman and vice versa.

To what extent will you be responsible for your henchmen's actions?
Will you get Evil points if your henchman does something evil? If not this could be a way that you can get rid of the pesky Bard without getting any evil points. Just invite a friend and turn safety off then sit back and watch. Sort of like leading villagers out of town and watching them get killed by balverines then going back and buy their houses in the original. This would make being an assassin so much fun! Get hired out to kill the citizens of another players world so that they can maintain the social facade of being good while still accomplishing their nefarious deeds.

If you are good and visit a friends as a henchman and they do something illegal and the guards end up attacking because they resisted arrest will you get evil points as well even if you don't attack back?
I saw Peter Molyneux do this in the LiveWire demo. If Hilary had just blocked and not attacked what would happen?

On the other end of the stick What if as an evil player you are with a good character and they perform an act of charity or good will? Will you get any good points? This seems less likely than the latter but it illustrates the point that I believe to be true. That is you are not responsible for your henchman's actions.

Thoughts?

Re: Guilt By Association?

I've wondered this myself.

I'd sure hope not, it wouldn't make sense and be very annoying if you had an evil friend who likes to cause trouble.

Maybe its all based upon what the character does like, attack the guards or just run away from them( I suppose) when the fighting is taking place or the event.
I have no idea^_^

Re: Guilt By Association?

well, i believe PM did state that one should be extra careful of who they bring into their world because the person who's world it is will be held accountable for the actions of their guest. i mean if people will react differently to you based on who you are hanging out with (which is how PM said it was going to work) then i'm sure that you will get, if not equal, at least some evil/good points if your guest commits a deed of some sort.
though i have to admit, that would make mastering the morality scale all too easy if you could just have a henchman do everything evil/good for you while you sit back sipping on an umbrella drink avoiding all the consequences.

Re: Guilt By Association?

I think henchmen won`t do anything on their own. they follow their leader (you). Or do they have a will of their own?

Re: Guilt By Association?

I've read that as well, and wonder if I better be extra careful, who is invited in my world. I know a lot of good Hero players, so I should be safe.;)
I don't think it's fair though. Maybe they couldn't do it a different way? It doesn't make sense to me.
Albion, why would you want to kill the Bard? He could be very amusing, and I think there are quests attached to him. If he's killed the quest would disappear.

Re: Guilt By Association?

That's pretty much what "safety" is for. The NPCs will probably react negatively to an evil henchman, but it won't affect your character permanently. The trouble comes whne you turn safety off and he starts doing horrible, horrible things, heh. Fair or not.

Well I've thought of this and I took notice when he mentioned the cost of getting a divorce. He mentioned that your friend could kill your family. Hmm that might be convenient if one of your buddies could murder your pesky wife without you tainting your "good" character. Of course it will only work if you aren't responsible for your friends actions and vice-versa.

Re: Guilt By Association?

i thought the henchmen changed to match you for your world

Re: Guilt By Association?

No...the henchmen is one of your friends playing over live (or same room co-op).

Re: Guilt By Association?

humm better make some more evil friends I think!

Re: Guilt By Association?

PM did say something along the lines of "If you are a good player with an evil henchman, then the citizens of Albion will act appropriately."

I agree! I am going to be very careful when letting anyone in my world for my first play through. I want to see how tough it's going to be to be 100% good. I have a feeling I'm going to be a bit upset my what I must do :'(

Yeah I think that's right. I'm wondering about the details concerning good and evil points.
