Halo issues already

Literally hundreds of people have been posting in two forum threads at both the Bungie and Xbox sites saying that they are having serious problems with disc reading errors and Halo 3. The issue appears to happen for various people at different places in the game, and is not related to whether the disc is scratched or not.

Rest of story here: Halo 3 game freezing issues

Also, some limited edition owners have reported scratched discs upon opening the game due to a manufacturing cock-up whereby the game and bonus material was not secure and had been damaged by the metal tin. Luckily, Microsoft have said you can have your game replaced if you get it done before 31st December this year, so it's not all bad. Unless you buy the game afterwards, of course...

Re: Halo issues already

I played through it from start to finish with no problems. However my bonus DVD was loose in case and slightly scratched but works fine and actual game disk was still secure and untouched.

Re: Halo issues already

yeah they mentioned that when I got mine, but since they're replacing them if damaged it's no big deal... and the odds of their being any Limited Editions left to buy after December 31 are pretty negligible, so the problems should be dealt with by then...

Re: Halo issues already

I just dont understand what could possibly make the scratches in the disk in there as nothing thats abrasive etc in the case.

Re: Halo issues already

I've had plenty of games and dvd's come loose from their packaging before opening them and I've never seen scratches so bad that they are unplayable...

Re: Halo issues already

it's just cause they're lying flat right on metal, so if the case is shifted the wrong way in transport you can end up with the disc rubbed repeatedly against a sheet of metal which will eventually wear the disc down if it's not secured properly

Re: Halo issues already

This happened in Maine. They thought it was from Crappy Truck Unloaders, but I guess the problem is bigger than the walmart workers. :P

Eh, it happens. I remember when i ordered my box set seasons of Three's Company from Amazon, the delivery packaging was alittle poor, seeing as all they used was bubble-wrapping to secure the cases. And when i opened it up, two of the cases (made of glass), were broken and cracked, with a few glass pieces lying around in the box. But the discs were fine, fortunately...but now i'm stuck with having to be careful every time i open the case, or else I'll end up cutting myself.

I also bought a game once from Gamestop (brand new), but when i opened it, it had a scratch on it, even though it was safely secured in it's little disc holder thing, but luckily the game still played. So yeah, it happens...but, the whole Halo 3 tin casing thing, seemed clearly of a bad idea, even when i first saw it. The Action Replay code discs for PS2/Xbox all come in tin packagings, which is a bad idea, and most end up getting scratched easily, or end up having damaged or worn out disc edges (from sliding into the tin walls all the time).
