Halo Movie Announcement Just Around the Corner?
Halo Movie Announcement Just Around the Corner?
It’s the announcement many people have been waiting to hear throughout the world, but dodged by economical costs particularly caused by the global recession and political hindrances such as the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, the Halo movie has suffered a development curse.
Since 2005 a film adaption of the video game Halo has been one of the worst kept entertainment secrets this century with the political complications surrounding it most prominent within the public domain.
With the film originally targeting a 2008 release, Peter Jackson (Executive Producer) and Neill Blomkamp (Director) stopped and resumed preproduction of the film several times in 2006-2007 for reasons unknown. This eventually became too much of a problem for Neill Blomkamp who declared the project dead in late 2007 stating he wouldn’t start work again on the Halo film even if the opportunity arose due to five months hard work ending up counting for nothing.
Since then the rights of the film have respectively reverted back to Microsoft with rumours of Steven Spielberg being pouted as a potential candidate for the director considering his current ties with Microsoft.
Halo enthusiasts however will be pleased that Frank O’Connor, the Franchise Development Director at Microsoft’s 343 Industries division recently announced that a Halo movie is still on the top of Microsoft’s wishlist and that when the time is right a Halo movie will be made.
Consequently considering Halo: Reach (Xbox 360), the latest Halo game is scheduled for a 2010 autumn release and the politcal and economical influences seem favourable once again, could that time be now?
Expect an announcement just around the corner.
