Heavy Rain Developer Wants Multiplatform Release
Heavy Rain director and Quantic Dream founder David Cage has hinted that his next project could be a multi-platform release.
CVG said:
Heavy Rain was, of course, a PlayStation 3 exclusive - but the game's success appears to have given Cage the belief that Quantic Dream's next title can capture a wider audience.
"With Heavy Rain it was right, but after Heavy Rain the question can be asked whether we should stick to one platform or open out to different platforms," he told GI.biz.
"Now that we're established why are we limiting ourselves to one share of the market when we can reach more? There are pros and cons and it's not an easy decision."
"We're not looking at anything, we have people asking, and we're seeing different options," he added.
"We're really thankful of Sony's support and the relationship we have because there are very few publishers that would have supported Heavy Rain the way they supported us."
Cage has already said that he is reluctant to do a direct Heavy Rain sequel but the next Quantic Dream title has already been written.
One thing we think is almost certain, however, is that Cage's next idea will retain the essence of Heavy Rain as a game, which, as Cliff Bleszinski has said, seems to have started its own genre.
