The Shadow Court
Hello again!

Well, I arrived home from Paris yesterday at 3:30am, after setting off on the Friday at 8:35am lol. The hotel we stayed in was, satisfactory. I am sick of the sight of bread! On the first day, we got a tour of Paris by our coach drivers. After that we were let out and we could go on an explore Paris any way we saught fit, but had to be back at the pick-up point but 7:30pm. On that day, we went to Mont Matre and saw the Moulin Rouge and the Sacre Coure(a big church)
The next day was Wednesday, some of the 53 people on the coach were going to Disney, so we dropped them off and the remaining 8 myself included continued on to Versailles.
We spent a grand total of 3 hours there in th Palace. We saw the left wing of the palace and some of the gardens, including Marie Antoinettes little Hamlet right at the bottom. It was very intresting, but very rushed. I recomend going, but if you do, stay for the whole day. On the Wednesday afternoon we were sent back to Paris centre and we could look around again, I made the mistake of wearing heels and my feet were killing me all day. So I wandered off into this absolutelybeautiful huge park, and fell asleep...
The next day was out final day at Paris before we would have to set off travling again, so we had the whole day to ourselves. On the morning we went to Nortre Dame and had a long 2 hour look around there, absolutely beautiful it was. Then later on, we walked down the river Seine and to the Louvre. I saw the Mona Lisa up close, and the Venus de Milo. I felt very privilaged. Then we decided to make our way back to where the coach picks us up early. There was a spit of grass there, which I fell asleep on...
Over the 3 days I was acutally doing something in France except traveling I...
-Saw the Arc De Triomphe
-Saw the Obelisque
-Saw were Princess Diana died
-Touched the Eiffle Tower
-Travled down the River Seine on a boat
-Went in Louis Vuitton
-Went in Gucci
-Went in Ferrari
-Went in Prada
-Saw the original Statue of Liberty
-Had my protrait drew on the steps of the Sacre Coure by Antonio
-Met two lovely ladies called Dale from New Zealand and Tatiana from Russia, both were living in England at the time. I spent most of my time doing things with them.
-Nearly got ran over by 50 cars walking across a road
-Saw were the Prime Minister of France lived

The good things..

The weather was awesome, sunny and didn't rain once until we were going home.
The locals were pleasant.
You got what you paid for.
Every French person I spoke to, talked at least a little bit of English.
The food was lovely.

The bad things...

The shops in Paris were either incredably expensive(Prada Gucci etc..)
Or, they were tacky, like cheap **** off a market. There were no inbetween shops like Topshop of Newlook or something like that.
The people in the cars don't care, they just go, if it is a red light and they see a gap between people, they won'twait for you to go across, they expect you to move, and when you don't they don't slow down...
The police don't care about you either...
Anthing you want to go to, takes forever to get to. For example, if you wanted to see the Eiffle tower and Notre Dame in one day, you couldn't walk it, becuase it would take you about 3 hours.
There are people in the streets who come up to you and physically force you to buy things and also pick-pocketing is very high.

If anyone is thinking about going, I really do recomend it. Paris is such and amazing place to be, its like in the films it really is. Our coach drivers Ian and Mel were absolutely hillarious. A few words of warning...
Make sure you get a bag that has a Zip and velcro on, so it makes it harder for pick pocketers to pick your pockets.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Drink lots of water.
The purther out of the city you get, the cheaper things become, but then you would make up by having to travle longer to get to the city centre.
Always be careful whilst crossing the raods in Paris, people are very inconsiderate.
Make sure you bring enough money as things are very expensive.
Plan out the things you want to see most, so it saves you time standing around going "erm erm, lets go over there and see what happens..." this wastes time and you want to spend your time in Paris doing things not stood around like a lemon!

I hope you find this interesting and helpful and I am glad to be back. If anyone has any questions post it on here and I will answer as soon as I can! thank you! xxxxxxxxxxx

Re: Hello again!

Oh yes, This is very important too...
Alot of things in France are free for under 18 year olds. But you need proof you are under 18, like your passport. They don't advertise that you need proof. They do this in La Palace de Versailles, La Louvre and many other places. So If you are unde 18, carry your passport around with you, but make sure you keep it bloody safe! Things like churches are free though and nearly everywhere you ARE NOT ALLOWED FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. But you CAN take pictures WITHOUT the flash on. This is important becuase they are not shy of repremanding you :)

Re: Hello again!

Welcome back. I remember going to france on a school trip a year ago. The teachers had a hard time making sure nobody bought fireworks lol.

Re: Hello again!

When walking in France you must never be afraid of the cars, if there's a green light, walk. It sounds like suicide but it really isn't, they will stop.

^ Aw, bummer. Where is it illegal then?

I know it's legal almost everywhere now. Even authentic absinthe contains very little thujone. No reason to ban it in the first place.
I just wanna try some nice French absinthes, brands like Lemercier Amer, Moulin Vert, etc. They're the ones that I'm well aware of. Some of them are just a bit pricey and hard to get.
Moulin Vert is probably available locally in US now.
