Help with Bridging an XBOX connection

i'm trying to bypass the need to spend $99.99 on a wireless adapter and just get internet on the xbox through my laptop via bridging connection.

now, i looked up several how-to's online, but it seems all of them specify that under "manage network connections" i should have a local area connection and a wireless connection. they instruct to highlight both, and select bridge connection. that's all fine and dandy, except that i only have "local area connection" appearing.

i can't bridge connections with just that. when i try i get a pop up window saying that i need 2 high speed or LAN connections that are not being used by internet connection sharing.

please help! i can't get live and i can't afford a bag of chips, let alone a wireless adapter.

What is it your trying to do with Live through your laptop?

get an internet connection. essentially by "joining" a hardwire connection between the console and my laptop with my laptops wireless connection i'll be able to play live as long as the wires in place :D

Ah so it is gaming on Live that you would want. I only asked as if it was merely streaming music and movies etc from a laptop to 360 thats easy to do. I shall research on bridging connections for full access to live from Laptop.

Re: Help with Bridging an XBOX connection

I had this exact same problem bugging me for quite a while, but I eventually fixed it. I found it worked better to share the connection, rather than bridge it. I can't remember what I did. It was a combination of changing a few random settings, the stars aligning and my Xbox being in a good mood. Once I got it I just tried to not touch anything.

I used a crossover cable and a lot of frustration.

WOuldnt it be esayer to buy an enthernet cable? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cat5e-RJ45-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1277548706&sr=8-1 £2 not to much but if you dont want one ill look up this bridging for you the same as DD :)
i have an ethernet cord, that's how the xbox is plugged into the laptop. my problem is that i don't have the router or any internet access-granting ports nearby. this is literally the last thing i can do or else i give up live. if i can get $99.99 it's gotta go towards textbooks for the semester, not videogames. :(
