help with connecting to live

hey I've just tried connecting to live my mate told me all I need to do is connect the 360 via a internet cable into my laptop which is online and wireless and that should do it. I tried and it doesnt work it doesnt even register the cable there. I tried connecting a wireless adapter and the 360 doesnt register that being connected I thought there might be a problem with the connection but I connected a usb light and fan and both work so the problem isnt with the actual port any ideas?

Did you go to your xbox control panel, and connect there first?

anyways, ive never heard of plugging your xbox into a laptop... if your laptop has wireless it just might work, but idk...

you could always try connecting to an ethernet port, and if there isnt a close one, buy a long one off some electronics site....

All you have to do is bridge your wireless and lan connections together and you can use your laptop as a wireless hub, are you running xp or vista?

oh wow, i wish i would've known that before i spent nearly 90 dollars on a 360 wireless adapter

Yea, thats what i do, screw microsoft and there pricey **** lol.

yeah...

do you even get a good connection with it? id think it would be a bit slow especially if you could get on the internet too.

No, it would be the same as if you used the adapter, tho the apater sucks balls, a laptop is actually faster IMO, specially if you have a wireless N laptop and router.

wow..... i feel a bit stupid now... although th laptop at my house is constantly being used by someone else, so i guess its still all good.

yea i put that because i thougt yesterday was friday, which messed all my thinking up...

is that guy even online, i would check, but im in advanced edit mode
