Hollow Smiles
As i pass through the throngs of people, a bustling multitude,
I see nothing but facades, hollow smiles and fake laughs
A society full of pretenders, a people concerned with etiquette
polite company is pretentious company, a vice-like grip on instinct
why consume time with such nonsense, as if life is triviality
to be wasted away on pomp and circumstance, a respectable fool's game
i wonder if the dying infants will learn to eat with the right salad knife
or if their concerns are more pressing than 'keeping up appearances'
aid would be a drop in the ocean to the superiors, but time is another matter
the babies see nothing but facades, hollow smiles and fake laughs
destined never to grow or progress into a state worthy of mention
as the curse of their class or caste proves too suppresive to overcome
they will never see the privileges that their superiors benefit from
a cloth from the table could clothe those not permited to eat at it
but it is instead wasted on these silver spoon ********
