How do I give Gifts

I have played through the entire game with one major handicap: i dont know how to give people gifts. I am in the quest with the ghost ship and need to give the drunkard a beer, but dont know how.

Can someone please help me so I no longer feel like a fool?

Highlight the person in question by facing them and pulling on the left trigger. The D-Pad icon may or may not show a purple giftbox icon - if it does then select it and you will be taken to the menu to pick a gift for that person out of the things you own, or some gold.

If the icon does not automatically appear then hold your right bumper, select social and then gift. Then it continues the same as before - pick a present and off you go

For Salty Jack (the drunk quest giver) you just need to buy a beer and then go back to him and it will give you the option to hold A to give him the drink.
