I like it BIG!!! Seriously!!!

OK...so...i have noticed that as gaming consoles get more advanced, they also get a lot smaller. They developers always try to make them really thin...but...at what cost. i am not a gaming nerd or anything, so i don't know about this stuff really, but i would think that the bigger the system is, the more powerful it would be. and the power and how well it runs is really the most important thing for me. i don't care if the system is as big as my bed (kidding, but still), if it is really powerful, that is OK with me. i guess what i am trying to say is, stop making things thinner at the price of power. i may or may not speak for everyone when i say that. Please, if you agree with me, comment and post you thoughts and ideas. Thanks!

Re: I like it BIG!!! Seriously!!!

Honestly do you agree with that for your computer? Early computers were the size of buildings. No joke. So since you want a bigger game system then wouldnt the same apply to your computer?
Probably not
Also just because it was bigger doesnt mean its better
Whats sad is a normal digital pocket watch has more power computer wise then the spacecrafts computers that took Neil armstrong to the moon in 1969
But there was a thread on a site i was looking at a while back ago. Dont remember where tho :( but they were talking about the same thing. And honestly all the people there wanted them smaller. If a bunch of buyers told the company to make them bigger then im sure it would work. But... Im sorry i dont see them getting bigger any time soon.
As in power and the way it works, New technology gets rid of the need for big ol gaming consoles. So there not sacrificing power or to make it work better for looks. Yes im sure if you added on more parts and what not it would make it faster or run better, same goes to anything.
But if thats not what the consumers want then the producers wont make it.

quick insight into the process.
once they decide what hardware they want to use (design the chips, make the system powerful) the initial design is usually large. special engineers are then hired to take this large system you desire and size it down, making it more portable and flashy.

how well it works is determined BEFORE they make it small, rather than after.

I travel a lot so I like it small and handy.

Re: I like it BIG!!! Seriously!!!

The only real downside about smaller consoles is ventilation and cooling. Anyone who ever opened up an old Xbox would see that most the area inside the console actually had nothing in it. Allowed air to flow freely but also collect dust inside, in theory the Xbox could have been made much smaller. The PS2 also had an expansion bay on the back that was never used in most regions outside Japan so they took it out and made some of the chips smaller and more efficient and then brought out the Slimline one. They use less power electricity wise with more efficient chips but it doesnt make them less powerful at all. Some of the most powerful chips in the world are no bigger than a postage stamp.

...okay, I'll stop now. The only issue with this trend to make things such as mobile phones smaller (and thinner!) is how fragile they are and they are easy to missplace.

Just for laughs I own one of them early mobile phones. Big as a brick, and just as sturdy!

I like it both ways. No, not that way you nasty degenerates.
I want the chassis to be humongous, and I want it's innards to be compact and powerful.

Aside from the cooling benefit, I also like to be able to open it up and easily clean it on occasion, for the reason Drakan mentioned of dust collecting, and because I'm weird like that.

Thas what Sh-, Damnit Tsuyu!
