I want to like Oblivion but...

... I just can't get past the character creation!

No matter how I try, my characters gets these blue and red spots all over their face, something only the word "pizzaface" can do justice.

I really want to enjoy Oblivion, but I can't 'cause my characters looks like hell! Anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have always had the same problem, my first character looked like this:

Creepy, eh? You could try the preset button (or whatever it is) until it shows something you like. I just got a helmet that covered my characters face, that worked fine for me. =]

I never EVER mess around with the tone options. It throws everything out of whack. Try changing the complexion to get something you like.

Tone maybe. It could also be the tone of your TV. Do you have it for the Xbox 360?

Complexion and age do that to your character. I don't even know why you need to alter them at all - it's not like fable where your age shows after a while...

I just randomise the face - but then I always go Argonian so I have no idea what a Nord or Redguard, for example, may look like when you start customizing them...

But don't forget you will rarely see your character's face during the game unless you go to the journal...the rest of the time you are facing forward - even in the third person view.

I remember someone else having this same problem but unsure what causes it exactly. As Sharon said though you never see the characters face anyway.

What race are you choosing? I don't like the character customizing either honestly. The first time through I just went for as hideous a face as I could make seeing as it was going to end up that way no matter which way I tried. Second time I chose a Redguard and had an easier time with it but he still looks like some inbred mongrel to an extent. It doesn't affect the game play and as Andy and Sharon said you don't see the face much. Long story short Face customizing is way over rated.

All races but the beastly ones get the coloured blotches.... it's just staring at me - my character, no matter what, looks like a plague victim.

No fun at all.

Yeah I love the game, but I also hate how the character gets fudged up.

youcan download some stuff to fix certain parts of game, such as the less than brilliant female meshes or w/e and the unrealistic water effects. dunno if any of them can help with your face issues tho...
