I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

You know the quest that randomly happens after the main quest, when you're married and have a child? I read up on glitches for this quest to find a solution for mine, but the only one I can find is when the child doesn't follow you all the way out of the Hobbe's Cave. My problem is before my character even knows what cave her child is in. I have a husband in Bowerstone but when I try to head into the city to find him (so he can tell me what happened) the glitter path thing disappears. I've gone to the Old Town, Fairfax Garden, and any other close by region. The path leads back to Bowerstone. It doesn't lead me to him so I try to find him on my own in the city. At first I spent about half an hour trying to find him with that little yellow ring over his head, but actually I found him without it eventually. We're still married but the ring isn't over his head, and he won't tell me what happened. He just gave me a gift and walked off. I want to rescue my daughter from the horrible Hobbes.. :'(

What do I do now? I can't forget about the quest because I still get spammed with that notification at the top telling me to find my husband. Even after I found him. Please please help...

PS: I found three other people who have this glitch on other forums, so I know I'm not the only one. Could it be series of bad game discs that got out somehow? I know that sounds stupid, but I'm about to rent one from Blockbuster out of hope that that disc might be normal.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

Don't do that. Try cheating on him and unlocking the Blackmail quest in which you have to pay someone 1000 coins for him not to tell your husband. Do it in a different region then the one he's in. He should be the one who gives you the letter that came for you. Apparently that interaction has strangely fixed some glitches in that area (spouse and child).

If that doesn't work, try saving the game to your hard drive.

If neither works, let me know.

Oh ya and um, welcome to the forums.:)

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply! Although I'm a bit confused. So if I cheat on him, the person I cheat on him with gives me the letter? And what is the Blackmail quest? Ive never heard of it so far.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

Not the person who you had an afair with. Someone who witnessed you do it will send a letter to you (that you will receive from your spouse) that tells you to pay one grand for him to keep your secret. Your spouse will be confused but if you pay then there's no divorce worries. So when you finish this your glitch might be fixed, I'm not promising anything.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

Ok, I'll try that. Have you heard of anyone else with this problem before who fixed it somehow? And if the cheating doesn't work, do you have any other ideas? I'm a bit worried I'll never get this fixed. I've had trouble with this game disc before. That's what I get for buying from Ebay...

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I've never heard of this glitch in perticular but I've heard of many glitches regarding random quests. About the not having a ring over your spouses head, my Lady Grey has no ring over her either but she still treats me like a husband and I have three kids with her, so I don't think that would involve your issue. The only other thing I could think of right now is saving the game to your hard drive, because it gets rid of some lag and could help.

I'm off to bed, so I'll keep trying to help tomorrow. Gnite.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I got married to someone in Bloodstone so they're far apart. But so far I haven't gotten that little letter, nor have I seen my first husband again. It's hard for me to spot him out without that golden ring thing. And he's hardly ever at the house anymore so I don't know if this is going to work after all. :(

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

There are many people that have this glitch.

Try looking for him in Bloodstone. And Evan, it's install not save on the hard drive ;p

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I waltzed all around Bloodstone for several days, but no sign of him. Do people usually resolve this issue by finding him in Bloodstone?

Try having a kid with the guy in Bloodstone. It worked for me.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I did have a kid with him but nothing happened.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

You're not supposed to marry, just cheat. Now go buy a hooker in Bloodstone.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I've tried both. I married someone in Bloodstone and cheated on them both with someone in Oakfield. But the quest hasn't opened yet. Does it matter if it's a man or woman?

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I don't know. I think it takes a couple of days after the cheating. Try sleep for a couple of weeks.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

This would have to be very rare considering I have never heard of this before on the forums, or in my own experiences with fable II.

I really don't see why this happened but obviously there are some minor bug sin the game that havent been detected before they actually released the game. But I'm sure you'll be able to do what has been advised by the other players. Good luck with getting things back to normal.

Oh no, they were detected, but Microsoft rushed the release so they didn't have time to really get into the minor bugs. Still, they had lots of time to release patches.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I wish they had fixed this bug. I could eventually forget about it if that notification "you have a family emergency" would stop popping up. Another problem is how if I have a boy and he grows up into a toddler I only get to see him once. Then when I come home he's gone, poof, out of the city. And he's no longer under the list of children I have with a spouse. This only started happening after I got The Rescue quest. My theory is they're all running off to that cave.. x_x

Someone, pleease help me get my babies back! I just hate the thought that the "hero" can't even rescue her own child from hobbes. Screw the nonexistant husband who doesn't care about our daughter. :realmad:

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

its called them actually being professionals and fixing the problems before they release the game. Thats why they hire people to test out the game before they actually release it. And by the way Tawney your taking Fable 2 into a realistic view, they didn't make your husband etc to chase after your child if it has dissapeared. I mean you can't expect them to be able to properly put in all human emotions and put them into situations like this.

Maybe they should have done that but maybe that could have annoyed some of the players that mainly focus on combat etc rather than relationships.

Re: I'm having a rare glitch with "The Rescue" quest.

I'm only kidding, I don't imagine the game would be that realistic. I just want get this fixed so I can move on with the story. It's become very distracting to me. Please don't think I'm a loser for that.. :ermm: Lol
