So, some of you know this cause you're facebook friends with me, but I'm peacing out to head to Coast Guard boot camp on 11 February.

Sooooo won't be here for two months after then.

Not that I'm actually here that often, but I know how sad it makes you all when I don't post frequently enough.

So... what will you be doing there anyway?

My family's pretty scary, that's understandable. (I'm still waiting for you to seduce my sister away from her jerk boyfriend, BTW.)

Boot camp is boot camp. CG boot camp is a bit different from the others, but mostly in minor details. They'll teach me to shoot a 9mm instead of a rifle; I might learn a bit more about maritime laws and treaties (maybe not, too).

After that, I get to request a district. In theory I can ask for a specific assignment, too, but most likely just get the district I want. And districts are huge geographic units-- where I live now is in D5, and that stretches from North Carolina up to New Jersey.

I'm back, mah homies! I survived, and I'm at my first unit... and pretty much immediately given sick leave. Apparently sometime between week 2 of boot camp and now I contracted pneumonia and had a lung partially collapse. Ooops?

Maine seems nice, but I'm in the middle of damn nowhere here.
