I'm reconsidering the Marriage of Inconveniance quest...

I originally turned Veronica down when she asked if I would help her. However, the quest has remained in the quest list, and I wish I could carry it out after all. Veronica will no longer respond to me or my approaching her, and the door to her house, where the husband continues to stay, seems to have an invisible barrier... I'm not sure if a glitch has occurred or not, but does anyone have any advice or knowledge on this?
