I might be wrong... But if they are solar and attached to trees, then wont the shade of the tree stop the thing from absorbing sunlight?

I don't know. I think they might have some kind of solar panel thing (maybe something that looks like a leaf) at the top of each tree.

solar pannels don't have to be in direct sunlight for them to work, as long as they have access to natural light they can start charging, that's why they can work on a grey day, theres always some light there!
