Ok, so Jessica in her infinite wisdom thought that perhaps dropping her iPod Touch onto the tiled floor of Steve's office would just make it bounce.

It didn't.

The screen is smashed to flock and looks like it needs repairing.

HOWEVER - we didn't buy it for her, so we don't have the receipt (plus it wasn't insured so it's not covered for moronic activity). The person who did buy it has not only thrown out said receipt but has also disappeared off to South Africa for the next month or whatever (talk about dodging your responsibilities) and so we have no idea where it was bought, when it was bought, WHY it was bought or what kind of shoes the person was wearing that day.

Don't want to go down the local market and have some dodgy bloke "fix" it for £3.50, so can anyone recommend a decent service that can repair it for us? I know there are plenty out there who will do it for about £30, but I'd rather go with a company that has been recommended rather than just post off the iPod only to see it being sold on ebay a week later with new licence plates. Or however these things work.

Any help appreciated :)

Could always take it to an Apple shop & see what they can do about it, if its just the screen then it shouldnt be to hard to fix & lots of people could do that.

They have this thing called a Genius Bar? I think you have to make some sort of a reservation (for us it'd probably have to be at the Bullring) and then a guy who is barely old enough to be out of school will patronise me for 15 minutes and then they may be able to do the repair in the store. My only concern is how much they may try and fleece me for...

And oh my gosh how old do I sound right now...:'(

If its just the screen it will likely be similar to an iPhone repair & they just manipulate some clips & get old screen out along with debris & slot in a new one. Easy if you know how but fiddly & a bit of a pain if you dont.
