I have this red and black Union Jack sweatshirt see, and I already don't wear it much because I live in rural America, also I'm American. But I look so friggin fresh in it so when I'm chilling with friends and got my mob going I do.

But what I want to know is that offensive to UK people. Like if I went to London and was walking around looking in the shops would I get yelled at? "Aye you limey wanka!" I actually think it's cool because the middle line goes from my neck and extends all the way down and makes it look like a cross and black is sin and red is Jesus' blood or forgiveness. I was worried that it actually meant like anti UK because of the discoloration.

This is same as my sweatshirt only all black. So what is an Englishmen's opinion to badass for Zarkes? I actually don't know and I don't want to be offensive or misunderstood.

I dont know a single person who would be offended by a discoloured Union Jack. I mean lots of clothing stores here sell ones that are multiple colours and with all sorts of designs on-top of them and no-one bats an eyelid.

Okay I just wanted to be sure, you never see morphed American flags so I didn't know if it is wrong to Brits or not.

Also I know you don't talk like that before someone takes me seriously.

From what ive seen the US are much more patriotic about their flag however the Union Jack is the flag of the UK as a whole and we (the English) are more patriotic about the St Georges Cross.

lol - unless you're in the BNP I can't see how you'd be offended by that flag as a Brit...as a nation we're only patriotic for sporting events, the hunt for a mass murderer or when there's a new Richard Curtis film to attend.

^ Just making sure I don't know how things run over there, Russell Brand is my ambassador pretty much. I live in a kindergarten country so everything is offensive one way or another.

F#*"! St George.

*Clears throat*

But on a more personal note, nobody I know would be bothered by the discolouring, arson, and or general wreckage of the Union Jack or the St George's Flag.

I'm patriotic sure, but not to some stupid flag but rather to the actual country I live in.... well, to a certain degree.

As the great Stephen Fry says;

^Awesome. What's the deal with St. George, sounds Catholic and Templar like something out of Assassin's Creed.

I remember my life as St. George. Got in all the clubs. Bitches loved me. Good times... Of course, the whole 'save a maiden from the dragon' thing was a set up. The dragon was actually quite friendly and a great actor.

:troll:

Yeah St George apparantly killed a dragon, and St Patrick got snakes out of Ireland, snakes being codeword for Pagans (become Christians or die and anywho do die we'll just say you were snakes).... not sure what St george actually killed.

You never know with these so called Saints.

People always say he got rid of all the actual snakes but yeah right and even why? Shoulda got rid of all the lowsy drunken Irishmen if yah ask me:sly:

St. George must be Dohvakin. Catholicism is so weird they have to many traditions and idols I think they lose focus alil bit. Used to be you had to get martyred to be a Saint, aye if God does come back one day he'll be like who killed all my Saints and Catholics will be like um we toltally don't have all their graves dating back thousands of years...

I believe snakes were used as a symbol for pagans because the Devil took on the form of a snake in the garden of eden. As for saint george, I think he was a christian who refused to change his beliefs when arrested by the Romans. They killed him for it. I believe the Dragon stands in for the Romans.

I have to say that I would find a recolored Union Jack HIGHLY offensive. I wouldn't be able to contain my offense.

Seriously, I was incredibly confused for a long time until I realized that people would use that same name for two completely different flags. And exactly WHY they used different names.

Also, true story, the county I live in has a flag: it's the St. George's Cross. And then in the thirties or something they slapped the county seal on it. It's, like, totally ****ty man. (The seal+flag, I mean, not the St. George's Cross.)

Also-also, I kinda see recolored US flags pretty frequently. And little symbolic representations and stuff. I don't think anyone would get ****ed unless it was, say, one of these.

Also, while I was looking for the flags in the second link up there, I found this one. Which just makes me curious. Is the guy an American or something? What's with the flag? Does anyone know?

A local football (wtf is soccer?) supporter who for some reason modified an US flag after his team's colours.

It begs the question; wouldn't it be easier to just purchase an official flag from his team's merch booth rather than finding an US flag in Italy and painstakingly modify it like that?

That last one seems quite appropriate.

He wants to be edgy.

Yeah, that was my question. I mean, why? So many other flags could be recolored to red and gold?

(Incidentally, I might have to start rooting for that team. It's almost burgundy and gold.)
