Ironic considering the recent troubles, but I got a nasty case of evil viruses and had to format and reinstall my PC. I've gotten most of the drivers in place except a very annoying problem:

In the Device Manager I keep having 4-5 "Unknown Devices" which causes Windows to spam me with that guide for new hardware-thingy. Highly annoying. When I look closer at them, I find these details on all of them "65535 (Internal High Definition Audio-buss)". Sound is working fine, so I'm not really sure what the fudge that is...

Hm. Any idea where one could find that for the nvidia GTX 470 card? Can't seem to find any audio drivers included in my installation CD.

All I can find is this. Like, hello? Download link, where art thou?!

Here you go:

And as for your Sounds Driver solution, install your Motherboards latest drivers by going to the Manufacturers website and looking for it there. If you've already done this, or if you've already installed your motherboards sound drivers from a disc, check and see if you have a Sound Card (not the one that comes attached to your motherboard), but an additional PCI or PCIe slot sound card. If so, then you need to find the drivers for that.

And please, PLEASE make sure you don't download any updates for your BIOS unless you know what you're doing, because you run a chance of "bricking" your motherboard.

As for the nVidia link I posted here, it'll upgrade your graphics AND sound drivers for your GTX 470, as long as you download the right one. Just find all information pertaining to you in the drop boxes.

Extremely annoying problem, but I think I got the best of it. The main problem was that the .exe package that nvidia gives you does not work to update these unknown devices; you had to do it with the default Windows guide.

Hard part about that is that the Windows new hardware-guide doesn't allow you to use a .exe file as a source of driver files. So I went out on a limb, got WinRAR and used "Extract files" on the .exe files and I got a few neatly sorted folders, one which was named "HDaudio" which I ten selected within the Windows new hardware-guide and it installed.

Appears to work now; no more issues in Device Manager nor does the PC find these unknown devices upon startup.

Now there's just the issue of legally acquiring all the music I lost thanks to this f****ing virus all over again...

Easy. Legally download a P2P Client and ask if you could "borrow" said albums digitally. ;)
