The ambitious and interesting looking crime thriller will hit the US on 360 and PS3 on May 17th, and will be released in the EU and UK three days later on May 20th. The game pits you as Cole Phelps, a decorated war veteran who rises through the ranks of the LAPD by solving gruesome murders and other crimes in post-WW2 Hollywood and features some of the best Motionscan Tech ever seen in a videogame. Developed by Team Bondi & Published by Rockstar Games the game is said to have over 50 hours of recorded dialogue and multiple paths to investigate.

Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games said the following about the highly anticipated title.
L.A. Noire breaks new ground for us. Its intense blend of action and real detective work defies genre conventions to create a unique and captivating thriller.
New Trailer will be released later which i will update this thread with.

Never even heard of this and I'm interested.

Its slipped under most peoples radar's even mine for a while but i spotted some footage a couple of months back and thought it was going to be GTA crossed with Mafia II but i was very wrong. It might be in looks but you play a detective solving cases and the choices and gameplay it offers sound brilliant and something quite new. Rockstar clearly have faith in this after they wanted to put their name on it and publish it and many are only hearing of it through Rockstars updates.

Heres a video of some of the tech used in it and a nice look at John Noble's digitalised face. It looks incredible with lifelike expressions and emotions.

*UPDATE*
TRAILER 2 CAN BE FOUND HERE

Wow, that really is incredible. Imagine crossing that with some of the graphics out there to think of the games we'll have standard in two - three years.

Definately be keeping tabs on this - love film noir and love mysteries. Things go hand in hand.

Yeah its definitely something more games need to start touching on. Real face mapping and expression/emotional content. Will make you feel closer to the characters and like each have their own personality. Not to mention highlighting the acting ability not just voice work of various people who are now characters in the game. I first started watching it because the whole idea and genre of the game is something very rarely done in games and it looked really ambitious and i like that. Another article here after you mentioned the film Noir:

There are countless nods to film noir if you're a true fan, and the game was inspired by a massive range of film and literature spreading across eras. We were inspired by everything from the Naked City, which invented the police procedural, through to more obscure movies like Detour and more modern Noir like Chinatown or L.A. Confidential. We will be posting a full list of recommended viewing to the Rockstar Newswire over the coming months.

I have to admit I've had My eyes on this for a while now, the emphasis on facial expression tech seems really innovative.

Really adds some lifelike character and personality to the characters in the game and i really like that. They are no longer NPC's with names and set actions they have a full rounded personality and traits.
