February 11, 2009 — The recently announced Left 4 Dead Downloadable Content (L4D DLC) will be delivered to Xbox 360 and PC gamers free of charge.

Due for release this spring, the DLC for 2008's best-selling new game property on the PC and Xbox 360, is dubbed the L4D Survival Pack and introduces a new multiplayer game mode entitled, Survival, plus two complete campaigns for Versus Mode (Death Toll, Dead Air). A Critic's Choice Edition of the game will be heading to retail stores this spring, and will include access to all the content introduced in the L4D: Survival Pack.

Left 4 Dead is a survival action game from Valve that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic, narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games. Released in November of 2008, L4D has earned over 25 industry awards from outlets around the world.

Its not exactly a large piece of DLC that adds lots of new things but yeah it is nice to see some free DLC and round of applause to Valve for that.

i'm starting to become a valve fanboy because of them standing up to microsoft so they won't make profit. very noble.

Its not exactly a large piece of DLC that adds lots of new things but yeah it is nice to see some free DLC and round of applause to Valve for that.

i just hate to pay for DLC because they dont sell MS points anywhere near xD

Im sure if they release a full new DLC package with lots of extras they will charge for it. This piece merely unlocks levels already in the game with some modes and adds some new modes. Survival mode sounds like fun though.

They are sometimes 'slightly' more expensive from off Live as opposed to a pre-purchased card but it is easier.

Great post, Dentie, hearing of any info on Gears 2 or Left 4 Dead is like music to my ears. Can't wait for the Survival Pack DLC to finally hit the Marketplace.

Edit: This is going to be free. I can almost guarantee it. There definitely won't be any new achievements with this DLC, though.

It will be free, Valve has been an AMAZING company of unmatchable quality... I cant wait for it, in Valve we trust... How many awards have they earned for all their games I wonder? I know they got 35 for Half-Life 2, almost 50 for Portal... Anyway, Valve is awesome imo, and I cant wait to see what they have in store for us in this DLC

^ probably true. but it's still a whole new genre and 2 more maps playable in versus......if that was released in halo they would charge a full 800 for it :lol:

Its already free

I got it, but Microsoft (After I payed 40 bucks) didn't realise I signed up for a year membership, so my membership ran out and I had to renew it with the monthly thingy.

Im yet to try it myself as ive been playing Chronicles Of Riddick. I will give my verdict on it once ive tried it out.
