Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

It's something that's been on my mind for awhile, and don't get me wrong-- I loved this game. Like, best buddies for ever, I would take it out for ice cream loved it. Even so, I am a little saddened at the lack of bosses in the game.

Where was the Kraken?

Where was the giant scorpion?

Or even better... new giant monsters?

Instead, there were only trolls and upjumped regular enemies who took slightly more damage to kill-- or had a single magic ability that you could use too.

Thag was easy and basic. That's okay. I understand. He was the games first boss.

Up next there was the bandit leader Ripper. He could use assassins rush, which made him almost a threat. Ripper actually didn't let me down as an early game boss. He was, perhaps, just difficult enough for that point in the game.

There was Cornelius Grim, who was just a regular Shadow Swordsman, except he could shoot level 1 magic swords at you. I emptied one clip of my gun into him and he was done.

The Commandant was probably the toughest boss in the game, because you have to fight him without any good equipment and he also has minions-- lame as they are. Even so, he's still just a regular enemy with more health.

There was the leader of the Assassins Guild. I didn't even realize I'd killed him until the quest completion screen popped up. He was a Highwayman with a hat, apparently.

There was the Hobbe Leader. He was a normal Hobbe-mancer who could dodge bullets at close range like a Spire Soldier. He *also* died extremely quickly. I won't even JUSTIFY calling Tommy a boss.

Then, finally-- a boss with a unique look! The Undead Leader guarding the gemstone in the Graveyard cave. He was like a huge, muscular Hollow Man. Sadly, he wasn't even aggressive. He just stood there while I killed all his minions and then capped him down as well.

I just wish I could have fought something... I don't know... difficult. I guess.

Ontopic: Agree.
OffTopic: I'm trading reaver doll for hammer doll/ The maelstorm or The Red dragon. I'd pay 2 000 000 gold pieces + the rising sun for The Maelstorm or the red dragon alternatively.

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

^Use the doll thread for trades - it keeps it all in one place :)

I think the whole boss battle thing was part of wanting to include the casual gamer...I was expecting some pretty tough cookies and was surprised (but not disappointed) when they didn't appear really in Fable 2 - made it more approachable for newbie gamers to keep the difficulty down a bit. Although those commandents (including the main one at the Spire) are a pain the backside as are the huge Shards - especially if, like me, you weren't prepared and just got rushed/shocked the whole time...

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

yeah alot of this game was about the coas of albion and yet you never once fought a kracken, i thinks its better that they include a wider group of people like casual gamers but they kewdve had side quests to fight bosses so that you kewd still beat the whole game and he pros can still enjoy the game aswell.

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

Or even a difficulty setting option so that enemies you do encounter, even if they are the same people, are much much harder on tougher settings...

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

yeah that wewd be kewl if fable had difficulty settings

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

rather than have the commandant killed after your first trip to the spire, he should have retreated, then come back at the very end in one epic last ditch effort were he changes into a white balverine the size of a swamp troll, to stop you from reaching lucien.

BTW, did anyone notice the Commandant's uncanny resemblance to Bao Dur from KotOR II? Perhaps he's Zabrak from Iridonia. Maybe even related to Darth Maul, hence his evil ways (Slightly off topic, sorry)

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

LOL i has the same head as darth maul LOL nice seeing

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

Offtopic:Hes sorta mix of Darth Maul & Bao Dur. I have both KOTOR games.

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

I totally agree, it would be sweet for more boss battles / tougher ones. However thinking about how the game is set up combat wise, the potential for a difficult boss battle..well..does not exist. Really. LVL 5 time followed by lvl 4 shock followed by lvl 5 time followed by lvl 4 shock followed by lvl 5 time followed by gun shots etc etc etc...

I LOVE the combat, in fact Fable II's combat is some of the funnest I have ever played. Somethin' about it. I love the button mashing it just doesn't get old for me the way they set it up. But unfortunately it does make for easy boss fights unless you purposefully like you know, omit certain spells and such.

Maybe a boss fight could've rendered timewarp useless though..something like that would add to difficulty for sure.

lawl. Bao-Dur was a jerk. i wish i could have murdered him. he never turned jedi for me. just stayed mute for the whole game.

but we wont get into a star wars debate on a fable forum :P

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

agree

Dont 4get the hollow man boss in winterspring cave the headless one

i also agree not to put the kraken in but somethin in its place just so spice it up besides the shards side quest to find a hero hmmm maybe scythe they said he immortal and they keep droping game tips on him on the load screen so it woulda been cool side quest find the immoirtal intergiate him for such a such a thing you find him beat him get the information then he recharges blasts you then vanishes or something you know SPICE IT UP

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

AGHH!! I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN KILL LUCIEN!!!

WTH!?!?!? I one shotted him! :P

Re: Lame boss battles? (Spoilers)

I must admit I missed the epic battles from the first Fable, it made me feel like I had really accomplished something after beating them, but it seems Lionhead wanted to go for the more casual gamer this time around. Maybe we will see something more challenging in a future DLC or Fable 3.
