Yeah, I'm not just poking around with the Fable files, me and some other people over at facepunch found a whole skill system never implented in L4D

Someone testing the cvars and coding found that you could actually get the upgrades playable in game. Francis got a laser sight that increases accuracy ridiculously, Louis gets faster reloading, Zoey gets 50 extra points of health, and Bill does double damage.

Speculation:

Valve either plans or planned (some are arguing this code was there since the demo) to add upgrades one can get at every safe house. Maybe you get a choice between a set of limited options, each one giving you a disadvantage along with an advantage (Like maybe the goggles protect boomer bile from blocking your sight but decrease accuracy or maybe the kevlar decreases damage done to you but slows you down). The skills I'm more uncertain of. Maybe you will have greater customization of your characters, but things like "climber" and "groupie" are way to ambiguous to tell.

I could find another thread on this so lock if old.

Oh that would be awesome, I love playing as Bill...

I think it was cut out because it would make the characters too overpowered

There was supposed to be certain disadvantages, don't know if they were ever coded thought. I can imagine that if Francis gained more accuracy he would probably have some sort of disadvantage, increased reload time perhaps?
