Legal Download Sites

Ok, so this is from a UK site and I haven't checked all links to see if they are multinational but seeing as so many of us like to download stuff, I thought I'd start a little thread which lists sites where it is 100% COMPLETELY LEGAL to download stuff from films to music to purple skunks. Well, perhaps not so much the skunks, but you get the idea.

So if you have any sites feel free to list them here for the use of our members BUT DO NOT LIST ANY ILLEGAL OR P2P SITES AS THEY WILL BE REMOVED AND YOU MAY RECEIVE A WARNING (yellow card).

The following link takes you to a page of weblinks which have been checked out thoroughly and offer places you can legally download films and TV porgrammes, although as you may expect they won't necessarily be free:

Where to download legally - the Industry Trust

Add as you please (or not if that is the case) but please ensure that you have checked them first so that they are not infringing on any copyright laws - intellectual or otherwise.

Re: Legal Download Sites

Well, I have posted this a few times already but:

Rockstar Classics - Free Downloads

Rockstar is releasing their old classics GTA and GTA II for free.

Also, you don't have to download any Southpark Episodes illegally, as they are for free viewing on their homepage:

Cool, appreciate the links. + rep on help.:)

Re: Legal Download Sites

If you live in the UK or just like the shows we have, almost every regular channel (1 to 5) has an i-player on their website where for 7 days following the aired show in question, you can watch it again (or if you missed it, for the first time) completely free and legally.

One such i-player is BBC iPlayer where they have everything from Doctor Who to Newsnight. But don't watch Newsnight - it's very very dull.

Re: Legal Download Sites

I use Demonoid. Its the best downloading site, IMO, bc its by invitation only and to get an invitation you have to upload. So everything has high seeders so you download really fast. If you cannot find what you want on there then chances are there isn't a good version of what you want.

PS
I downloaded Oblivion and Portal from this site.
Oblivion took a couple of hours but Portal downloaded in 10 mins.

Sorry I didn't know that.
They are the best way to get free stuff and its legal (or that site is) because its private.

Re: Legal Download Sites

I know of a site that gives you free acapellas ( songs without music), great if you hate the background music of a song or wanna mix instrumentals with it... I love doing that. However, I don't if it's legal. I believe it's legal to have an acapella and not own the orginal song for 24 hours. If you do buy the song you can have the acapella. HOWEVER, I THINK!!

Whould I be kick if I put the site up?? How do I check if it's legal?

unperiod...torrents aren't illegal what you download is. I mention this because several linux distro's and Open office are available in torrent format. They are not illegal at least they are free under the GNU license.

Funny, in the Netherlands -where I live- it still is legal to download anything, uploading stuff that's not yours however, is illegal. My guess is that this will be changed in the future...

As for torrents; you are correct - p2p via torrents is just a technique, there's nothing illegal about it.

Now back on topic: If you're looking for nice freeware or shareware programs - all tested and free of spyware and such - 100% legal - and good bandwith:
