Legend of a Hero

This is where I will log the events of certain Fable 2 playthroughs as discussed in this thread. This is just a test run; I'm not sure what will come after this. Perhaps I will do it again, and maybe I'll eventually expand it to TLC and Fable 3. I might also change the manner in which I record this information, but right now, I'll be doing it in the form of a diary or journal. However, maybe none of that will happen, I just have to see how this goes. This time around, I'll be playing as a bandit. I tried writing in the voice of an angry, filthy bandit, so try reading it that way. Oh, and feel free to leave any comments and/or suggestions.

Chapter 1: Taking Bower Lake

I just came back into the camp after takin' some gold off of some trader. Then I saw that hag Theresa there. Again. Doesn't she have anythin' better to do than hang around me and these damn gypsies? Well, that's what I thought when I first saw her today anyway. She finally had somethin' important to tell me. She started talking about findin' that Lucien b*stard. Then I started listenin'. She gave me this strange magical trinket that let her talk to me whenever she wanted and then sent me through some cave. I don't know what the hell she was makin' me do that for, but if it got me to Lucien, it's not like I really care. There were only some little pathetic beetles in there anyway. When I was in there though, she started talkin' about how I'm some "Hero" and that the place I was in used to be the "Heroes' Guild". I mean, the cave did lead me to this weird chamber, and I walked into the light in the middle and it made me feel a lot stronger. Maybe I've got some of this "Hero blood" in me, but I ain't no bloody Hero. I'm a bandit, and there ain't nothin' that's gonna change that.

After I got out of there, she told me to go to Bowerstone, but the damn road was blocked. It's not like I cared much anyway. Somebody like me isn't gonna fit in with a bunch of rich folk prancing around their little shops buying necklaces and decorations. Then the guard blockin' the road told me that Thag was the reason they weren't lettin' nobody through, and Theresa told me to go kill him. I still didn't care one bit about gettin' to Bowerstone, but with all this new power and muscle, I could finally go rip Thag apart! He's been stealin' all the gold from the traders and leavin' nothin' for me! So I went to his camp and shoved my blade right through the b*stard's eye. You should have seen it, I practically had to get a new pair of trousers afterward. Then I raided his shack, and one of his little bandit friends comes runnin' over to me. He says he wants the key to the cage that's holdin' Thag's slaves. I saw the gold he was gonna give me for the key, but I killed the poor sod and took the gold off of him. I took the key with me too. Figured I could come by some other time and use those slaves for myself.

So then I went to Bowerstone, and I hated every second of it. It was just like I thought. I didn't fit in at all. All those rich folk starin' at me, wanting to tell me to get the hell out of their precious little neighborhood. The only good thing that happened there was gettin' a new sword and a nice new gun that wouldn't jam all the time. I mean, I had to do somethin' other than writin' in this little journal while I'm sittin' here waitin' for Theresa to get her ancient arse over here. Oh dammit, she's here. Better quit writin' and put this thing down now.

Re: Legend of a Hero

I love the idea an concept you got there. I might as well have my own story written as well (if you don't mind) Although i think your story would've turned out better if you massacred everyone in the Gypsy Camp Before leaving.

Re: Legend of a Hero

Anything could happen, that's what's so great about fable 2! I love what you've done, it's exactly how I imagined and I can't wait to see you go further. I can see some writing talent here!

I enjoyed reading about how you handled the slaves and why, killing the slaver and keeping the key doesn't net you evil points (I think) but it's certainly a bandit thing to do.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I did it.

Chapter 2: Albion's New Bandit King

So when I went over to Theresa back in Bowerstone, she started babblin' about choices and consequences, nothin' I cared about. Then finally she mentions some big tower in the sky that Lucien's buildin', and she told me about what I had to do to stop him. It was somethin' about gatherin' a couple o' Heroes and gettin' some big weapon to take the guy down. I don't see what's wrong with the bloody sword on my back though. The whole time she was talkin', I was just imaginin' myself shovin' it right through Lucien's body and then puttin' a bullet right through his bloody head. I guess that's not good enough for this old hag though. Anyway, she sent me on my way to Oakfield. It was somethin' about meeting somebody with great strength. The Hero of strength, I guess. Don't know what else it could be. It was damn relievin' to get outta Bowerstone Market though. At least Old Town's not so bad. Arfur's got it under control, and he ain't doin' too bad of a job neither.

Once I was out o' Bowerstone altogether, I had to go through Rookridge. What a place. They got bandits attackin' other bandits like me, filthy hobbes in some disgusting cave. Nothin' like Bower Lake. Anyway, I ran into some little bugger rummagin' through a carriage that a couple o' bandits had turned over and looted. He was takin' stuff off the bodies and told me I could have my share too. He's probably only sayin' that 'cause he was afraid I was gonna kill him, which I did anyway. I don't share. I picked up all the stuff on the ground, took what he was holdin', and got the hell out. Then, as I was runnin' on toward Oakfield, I ran into some bandits, and they started shootin' at me! Who the hell do they think they are? I'm one o' them, dammit! It's not like it mattered anyway though, I must'a put a bullet in every one o' their brains. Y'know, if they had any. Then, finally, I got to the bridge. I thought I was almost done, right? Wrong, the damn bridge was out. I had to jump down into the water and crawl through this nasty cave to get to the other side. It was dripping wet and filled with hobbes. They didn't even know how to fight neither. I cut up and shot every one of 'em. No challenges at all in Rookridge. Bloody shame. So finally, I got outta the cave and went onward to Oakfield.

Oakfield wasn't as bad as Bowerstone. No prissy rich b*stards secretly wishin' I'd get the hell out because I'm trackin' mud through their precious streets on my boots. These people in Oakfield didn't care, they were just farmers. They were still scared of me though, scared I was gonna slice their heads clean off. Ha! It warms my heart just thinkin' about the terrified look in their eyes. I couldn't enjoy that very long though, that old b*tch still has me by the balls. Told me I need to get to the Temple of Light or somethin'. Once I got there though, they didn't even trust me enough for me to help them in their ritual or whatever they were doin'. Can't blame 'em though I guess, probably thought I was gonna chop their heads off like all the others. So I went back down to the tavern and saw that chap Barnum from Bowerstone. Said he owned the broken bridge in Rookridge that made me have to go through that smelly hobbe cave. I was nearly about to rip his head off for that before he told me it was the bandits' fault. I told him I'd go kill those filthy buggers. I'm not goin' through the damn cave again, I want the bridge back. Plus, with all those Rookridge bandits gone, there's more sweet robbery for me.

So back in Rookridge, I went to the inn. All the bandits were there with their leader. Some fellow named Dash. I killed 'em all, but the coward just ran. I sent my mutt after him and he got chased onto some massive rock where my dog couldn't get to him. While that was happenin', I ripped through all of his men. It was like they weren't even tryin'. So then I finally got to where he was with my dog, and I shot him straight through his heart. That's two bandit leaders now, and it wasn't even hard. Guess I'm Albion's new bandit king.

Got back to Oakfield a little later. Talked to Barnum, he said somethin' about the deeds to the bridge bein' fake or somethin'. Not like it mattered to me. I just had my eyes on this nice new gun at the weapon stall. I got the hell out of the Sandgoose and bought it right up. A blunderbuss. So big and so powerful. Nothin's gonna survive one blow from this nasty thing.

Chapter 3: The Hero of Strength

I just got back from Oakfield after helpin' those Temple of Light folk. After I killed Dash and his crew, they let me help 'em. I went to the Wellspring Cave and met the Abbot's daughter Hannah there. The b*tch was huge. She had to be the one I was supposed to get. She was also holdin' some big jug thing. Said it was supposed to hold all this "holy water" that we got from inside the cave.

While we were in the cave, we were gatherin' some of this water from the two springs. Some hollow men popped up, but it was nothin' I couldn't handle. The whole trip would have been just fine if it weren't for Hannah's mouth runnin' the whole time. She kept spewin' out all this crap about the wisps and the hollow men and my weapons and the water and the monks, and dammit it was so annoyin'! Finally when we were in the last room, she started blessin' the water or somethin', and some monk comes runnin' in sayin' that her dad's at the temple bein' held hostage by one of Lucien's guys. She dropped the jug, pulled a god damn hammer off of some statue there in the room, and ran outside toward the temple. What a brute. She got there before I did, and the guy wanted her to come with him. She told him to bugger off or somethin', so he shot her dad, and then got his skull bashed in with her hammer. It was brutal. She knelt down by her dad's body and cried. I didn't know what the hell I was supposed to do.

The next morning, there was a funeral for the Abbot along with the blessin' for that big acorn thing. I couldn't give two sh*ts about their stupid ritual, but I was angry as hell as Lucien for doin' this again. I might be a bandit, but I've still got feelings, and I knew what Hannah felt like. She wanted to bash Lucien's f*ckin' skull in and rip his head off. She'll have to wait in line behind me though. Anyway, after the ritual was over and the monks were gone, Theresa decided to show up and take Hannah with her. Hannah said somethin' about callin' her Hammer now instead or somethin' like that. I dunno, I didn't care. I just left pretty quick. I went back to Bowerstone for a new gun. They've got those rifles made outta steel now, pretty powerful. Gotta go back to the Guild soon though. That old b*tch never wants me to have any fun. Might just screw it and go on a drinkin' binge.

Re: Legend of a Hero

I have to admit that this has actually gotten a little bit boring for me. I thought it'd be fun, but it's actually become somewhat of a chore because I feel like I'm doing the same thing each time I write a chapter, and it's actually been keeping me from continuing the game because I didn't want to have to do another installment. If I think of a way to keep it interesting, I might keep going, but I just feel like each chapter is too similar and the next one will always be predictable. Plus, with school starting soon, I won't really have a whole lot of time to be doing this. Sorry to everyone who was following it.

Re: Legend of a Hero

I've enjoyed it, I just didn't want to keep commenting stalker style...

It's understandable, school is coming up. I might take a run at this for my next playthrough so I'll hopefully I can see if there's a way to make it fun! This has given me lots of ideas!
