Being an incredibly indecisive person, I ask everyone I can before choosing something. Here's a few things I would appreciate some input on.

Pierce and stretch my ears: Yes or No?
- I've always liked the look of it and I'm not 100% sure on whether or not I should do it. I'm also making a band and it would give me a little more of a reputation amongst the metal/punk fanbase in my area. But, my parents would be PO'd beyond all recognition.

Break edge: Yes or No?
- I used to be an alcoholic. Then I quit cold turkey and have been straight edge since with a great many of my straight edge friends. But most recently I've noticed that I'm a whole lot more aggressive and cute girls always ask me to smoke or smoke with them. But, my friends would chastise me heavily for doing so.

Go to Europe next Summer: Yes or No?
- You guys probably didn't know this but I just came into a HEAVY amount of money and don't have much to do with it. As a result, I've made it a possibility to go to Europe next Summer for some sight seeing and casual love making. But, I've also thought about touring with my band around the US if we're doing well around that time.

If anyone wants to like give their input on any of these, I'd appreciate it a whole lot. Plus, I really do consider most of you to be very logical and wise. Thanks in advance.

Pierce and stretch my ears: Yes or No?
- I wouldn't worry about what your friends think. So long as you don't stretch them too far, you can always reverse this decision. Now, I do personally think that getting any kind of body modification should never be done for any reason other than yourself. This means that your friends opinions don't matter, but that your band's image matters just as little, if not less. The only question you should be asking yourself is do you particularly want gages? Beyond that, your ears can always shrink back. It's not like you'd need laser surgery or anything.

RELATED STORY FROM MY CHEEZY LIFE: My roommate last year took out his gages and within a week you would have never guessed they were there.

Break edge: Yes or No?
-Well, you and only you know your limits. Do you think you're capable of moderation? The whole purpose of being straight-edge, at least as I understand it, is to remove any and all temptation by just saying no to it all. It's true that once you break it, you will be tempted to return to old habits. Only YOU know yourself well enough to say whether or not you can handle that pressure and keep alcohol from having a negative impact on your life.

RELATED STORIES FROM MY CHEEZY LIFE
  • I have a friend who went through Alcoholics Anonymous and gave up the stuff altogether. Now he's drinking 2 nights a week (average) but getting good grades and working a full-time job.
  • I quit smoking cigarettes a year ago so I could get a car. Now, I didn't quit because I wanted to, so I was naturally more prone to relapsing, and I did. How? Because I allowed myself to smoke one night while I was drinking. Suddenly, it was easier to smoke any time I was drinking. Within 6 months, I was smoking regularly again and was not able to truly quit until 2 months ago. Moral of the story is that the most reliable way to handle a habit such as these is not partake ever. The door is either open or closed. Some people with drinking problems can manage themselves, but most can't. Be honest with yourself about which category you fall into. Personally, I'm no good at moderation.

Go to Europe next Summer: Yes or No?
- It depends a little bit on how you came by this money. Was it passed on to you by a recently deceased relative? Did you win the lottery? Rob a bank? In any case, I say no. Put that money somewhere safe. That could be a bank account or you could try investing it. See if you can turn it into something more. There's a reason that some people are able to live comfortably on a lower income, and that reason is that when they DO come across a nice chunk of change, they aren't compelled to go out and spend it all. Personally, I would put a generous portion away for a rainy day and take the rest to the stock market. If you or one of your friends know a lot about it, they could tell you which companies or mutual funds are paying off well with a high consistency.

  1. Don't stretch your ears, man. I can dig piercings and ear-rings but that whole stretching thing is just so ugly. Pierce whatever you want man, just don't get those butt-ugly stretching thingies
  2. As for drinking? In my opinion: if you don't drink at all for fear of relapse, you're still letting alcohol control you. Think about it.
  3. You can't go to Europe. Just like you can't go to America. There are many different countries, and I can't just advice you on going to Europe. I need a destination.

In regards to the general sum of advice, my ears wouldn't be stretched that far cuz that'd be too comedically large, that steampunk stormtrooper is super boss, and when I say Europe I'd be hitting a bunch of places throughout the whole damn continent cuz I'm awesome. Also, I've decided against the consumption of alcohol behind I can drown my misery in Borderlands 2 with needless slaughter. Thank's for the input too y'all.

No. Pierce maybe. Stretch? F*** no! I pierced my ears when I was 18, and when I was 19 I took them out. Now I wish I had never done it in the first place because I have two silly little scars where the holes used to be. As for the stretched ear look, I've always found it to look, well, retarded. Every time I see someone with those things in their ears it is very hard for me to take them seriously, even if its just the small kind. However, Im always grateful when dumbasses have the courtesy to label themselves for quick identification.
Break edge: Yes or No?

That's up to you. Don't let other people control you. If you can drink and not let it become a problem again then thats fine.

Go to Europe next Summer: Yes or No?

F*** yeah! Go somewhere and party! Life is about living man. Do what you want to do.

If you're gonna go to Europe in the summer hit up some festivals. One that I've always wanted to go to is Boom in Portugal, there are several awesome festivals in Belgium and the Czech republic and there's Glastonbury in England which is awesome. Glasto doesn't release the line up till spring and tickets sell out within hours plus you've gotta register but it is amazing. Then again if you like metal you might be better off for things like Sonisphere, although I don't know many metal festivals.

If you do hit up some festivals follow Jaydos's advice.
