It's true that most people on the development team are still working on Fable II even though the game has gone gold. The reason for this is the patch to enable people to play online co-op over Xbox LIVE.

Everyone here at Lionhead and Microsoft Game Studios are committed to having the long-awaited title on store shelves on October 21 and 24, so that everyone can start playing the rich single player story. You are also able to start playing the game with a friend on the couch; local co-op is in Fable II. Online co-op is also going to be in Fable II; we are doing everything we can to have this important feature in the game. We want you to be able to show off to your friends and play together, over LIVE.

The team here in Guildford and over in Redmond are working hard to release the LIVE co-op update (patch) for download, within a week of launch. In an ideal world it's going to be available on the first day but right now we can't say for sure if we're able to do this. Some of us are really tired and rightly so. I hear people say they are busting their balls. How does it feel? (Like A Rolling Stone - 1966)

On day of release gamers are able to play the rich single player experience and start spending the gold they’ve earned via the hugely popular pub games. Plus gamers will still be able to see their friends online as "orbs" as they are moving through the world, as well as chat and trade items with them plus play with friends in local co-op.

How does it feel? It's a bummer, but not the end of the world, please don't troll.

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

I dont see any harm in it taking a week at all. Keep working hard Lionhead. ^_^

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

agreed. its either they release it on the 21st with no co-op, then to release it with co-op on the 28th.

better fixed than broken.

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

I can wait, its not like I have friends.

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

Wow, I know they're trying, but I'm sure that some tester in England lost his job for this.

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

I was just relieved that Sam posted that. I hated all the flaming, at Lionhead over that.:(
I just want to play the game, whether it's online or off.:)

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

I'm a patient person, so I'm alright with waiting that little bit longer before I can play with friends over Xbox LIVE. At least me and Sharon can still play some local co-op on Fable 2.

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

I think it's works out better.

Even while we are playing This Work of art we can always keep thinking "OMFG CO-OP IS COMING OUT IN A WEEK AWESOME"

I can never understand the flaming that goes on sometimes. They flame games for being delayed and then they flame games for being released unfinished. Its only 1 week so i dont understand the big deal at all.

Guess im going to have to stock the fridge with beer and invite my cousin over. Which isnt a bad thing as its beer, socialising and gaming in one. :P

I think there are some that will flame no matter what happens. It's like they wait, to ponce on every little thing that comes along. :( Then the rest of us try to stop it, before it goes to far.:ninja:

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

Now I just need to go around spreading the message that it's free, not an add-on that has to be bought.

There's sooooo much misinformation being spread about this it's annoying. And it's making me even crankier.

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

well, we have been waiting for about 4 years, so im sure waiting a week for online co-op will be a breeze. besides, we will all be so distracted by the game that we wont even care and befor ya know it the patch will be out.

I know it makes me sad to see some of the answers, from there. It's like beating a dead horse, or something.

We don't know that it wasn't a change in XBL that was the cause so jobs could be safe.

It was pretty bad . I tried to calm them down but it didn't work so well.

Good point the delay could make it that much sweeter

I think some people think that if you don't complain then nothing will get done right.

True I doubt we'll have done everything in the game in a week

Yeah and then they start trying to say it's fable all over again. give it a rest about fable all ready  It was a great game even though it didn't delive all that it was promising.

All in all it's probably good that people expectations get lowered a bit too much expectations will ruin any game. Maybe now they'' think that it a great game and not nirvana.

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

Glad to see they're working on it. Also glad that Sam gave us all a heads up that they're still busting their asses for us. :)

Re: Lionhead confirms working on Patch for Online Co-op

Imagine the conversation
Lowly tester: Uh, by the way, Co-op won't work.
PM: What!??!
Tester: We tested it before and it worked, but now it doesn't.
PM: It just went gold, there's no way to fix this!
Tester: We could do it over live..
PM: We'll lose hundreds of sales in the first week alone!!!
Tester: I'm fired, aren't I?
PM: Not just fired...
PM *uses force lightning*
