Ehh, little bit of a spoiler^^
If you finish the game and pick wealth or sacrafice, is there any way to do the "Love hurts" quest without your dog?

I believe you can just follow the breadcrumb trail and go to your menu > items > spade to manually dig; I haven't done that first hand, but that is what a friend claims. Worth a shot.

I think you need your dog for specific, important dig spots.
