Re: London Universities?

Yeah, and I have to say that cost is a major obstical for an unemployed kid from a working class family trying to pay off a mortgage.
But I don't know if it would be the same as London....
But I'm thinking of actually full on emigrating, not just visiting.
London SUCKS (sorry for any londoners here but it really does)
People are rude, obnoxious and no one has time for anyone else...everything is incredibly expensive - there is nothing cheap apart from the pigeon crap.
Seriously, pick somewhere near to London, if you are dead set on going there, (but not High Wycombe coz that's a dive) - maybe a town off the M25 (motorway that circles London). You'll save yourself a packet because as Skorm's already said you're looking at thousands of pounds just for basic living, let alone actually having a life. Sure, the nightlife can be awesome - but it's not so great if you're under 21 and have no money - security is tighter in London now seeing as everyone even remotely non-white is apparently waiting to blow up in a train station
and nobody likes students anyway, so you'll turn up with that stigma fully attached before you get through customs.
Our current econonmic climate means everything is up in the air, finance wise. In the space of a week, your basic loaf of supermarket brand bread went from 19p to about 44p - housing markets (including rents) are completely messed up and if you want a loan, join the queue and pay about 29% interest.
If you rent, get some people to rent with as even outside of London (within about a 50 mile radius) you're looking at about £750 per month just for two bedrooms (not inclusive of council tax although if you're a student you may be able to have tax waived - but I don't know about overseas students.) Plus many landlords will not lease to students...as for buying (not that I expect you'll be even thinking about that!), well put it this way - £150,000 will get you one bedroom on the top floor of a manky tower block.
The further north you go, the cheaper things are so perhaps looking at a uni towards the midlands and north england might be more financially viable. London is accessible by train/plane/car/coach etc from pretty much any destination in england and so you can go there, see what you think and enjoy it without spending a fortune. Jobs are super-scarce these days and you'll find that London will offer little in terms of (example) bar work or waiting tables - even fast food restaurants will be full up with largely Eastern European workers because they are willing to work for crap wages and long hours. And almost every student - even those who can afford their fees - end up getting some sort of part time work to keep the cash flow going.
Like Skorm said, talk it over with a guidance counsellor of sorts and do your research - you never know there might be a decent deal for studying/living in the South East and it doesn't end up being as expensive as you thought - but be prepared just in case and know your budget before you get here.
