Looting in fable 2?
This could be interesting info from Fable 2 forums , I looked around there a bit but Projectego.net is still my oldskool home and is way cooler:lol:n Issue 31 of Official Xbox 360 Magazine, there is a small feature on 2008's RPGs, in which Fable 2 is featured... This includes a gorgeous new screenshot of a male hero standing in some kind of dark forest... And a little interview with ourlord almighty, Peter Molyneux.
One of the questions asked...
OXM :: What are the inherent difficulties in creating a world where player choice is paramount?
PM :: Obviously at the heart of Fable 2 is choice, and that choice is not only whether or not to accept a quest or go one way or another. It's a choice with lasting consequences. A man could come up to you and say: "My son has gone missing please help find him". You could choose to be totally altruistic; go off, find the child and bring him back to his father and then refuse to accept any gold for your help. That would make you nble, and pure. Alternatively you could just shoot the man just because he annoyed you with his pleading, then hunt down his son and shoot him too, just because you feel like it.Then you could rob their corpses of all their gold and worldly posessions, which would be, cruel and corrupt.
The problem with offering so many choices is the sheer amount of work that has to be done and the fact that most players will only see a fraction of it because there are several different choices. Also it does present gameplay problems, as whilst all this freedom sounds fantastic on paper in reality it can become unstructured and boring. So we've had to come up with some as yet unrevealed gameplay mechanics that can combat this issue.
