Making money from shops. Help :(

I don't expect a quick response but I'm new to Fable 2, currently going through my first runthrough and I heard you can make money by buying stalls and shops. So I gathered up around 30k and bought every stall in the bowerstone market, which I totaled the profit to be around 175 gold.

Now according to both the help section of the game and what I saw online you get this profit every 5 minutes in real time, which I see when I'm playing, but apparently it's supposed to give you money even when you're not playing. So earlier today I stopped playing at 3pm and I started the game back up at 11pm and when I started playing it gave me 1,700 gold. Now I'm not the best at math, but if I'm getting 175 gold every 5 minutes I should earn that much in an hours time, and a lot more for being gone for 8 full hours.

I really don't want to resort to cheating but I feel like I'm the one being cheated :( It's gonna take me a week to earn my money back from buying those stalls. :'(

You feel bad for cheating? Think of it like this,
Some players make 30 Million gold in around 10 minutes of cheating. i myself have 80 million gold ever since i bought it October 21st a few years ago.
Go through a quickplay, then go through again. Once you go through a second time you wont really need to cheat that much, or if you have xbox live, just become a rare items trader and make your money that way.

It's not that I'm against cheating in games, I usually just save that for after I've had my fun with the game normally and like to mess around for extra fun. I'm really not into the whole online aspect of games, for me fable 2 is just a game for me to play by myself when I feel like it, so I don't mind if other people are out there making millions by the second. I just wanted to know if anyone knows why I didn't get my full amount of money. Is it really every 5 minutes, is my xbox messing up, is the game messing up?

I calculated it out on a calculator, and if it really is every 5 minutes that you're supposed to get paid then at 175 gold every 5 minutes between 3pm and 11pm I should have made 16,800 gold. At the amount I got paid it was like it was paying me every 45 minutes instead lol. Big difference.

lol i kinda noticed that too, i earn about 8k every five mins and i went offline for a day and only earned 100k which isnt right. maybe i will experiment with leaving on my 360

I'm also new to Fable 2 but I've found that buying weapons and gifts for cheap (especially when sales are on or a towns economy is bad) and reselling to the people in Fairfax garden often nets alot of gold. I just got to Bloodstone and bought up all the blacksmithing weapons and sold them at Fairfax ..made about 300k just from that. Its alot of leg work but you dont feel like its cheating ...just living in a world with alot of stupid people?

You've probably already figured this out, but under the auspices of being helpful I'm going to say that when you're not playing, you make the money by the hour, rather than every five minutes.
