Mass Effect demo?

I was shopping today and I saw Mass Effect for sale and I considered buying it, since everyone else here seems to love it, but the trailer I saw didn't really win me over. Is there a demo around I can download?

Re: Mass Effect demo?

I doubt it, not a lot of RPG's have demos as they can ruin parts of the story and such. Maybe rent it first or something, it is a superb game though. :P

Re: Mass Effect demo?

All I really want to see is what the combat is like. The idea of stopping the whole thing and telling someone to go here then someone else to go somewhere else didn't really appeal to me.

Only time you stop the combat is to tell your team what attacks to use (biotics and tech abilities and such), you dont 'have' to but it helps a lot.

Still, I'd like to see for myself what it's like. Maybe I'll rent it.

Should do that, because as an RPG its an excellent game. It was never created to be a 3rd person fast paced shooter so keep that in mind when your playing it. The dialog and story branches etc are great.

Well, I do prefer RPGs over shooters anyway.

Re: Mass Effect demo?

I have to be honest, I wasn't all that thrilled with the first Mass Effect trailer I saw. In fact, I don't think any of the Mass Effect videos I saw actually made me think "Whoa! I must own this game!" I thought it sounded interest and I was eager to sink my teeth into a new RPG and, fortunately, Mass Effect delivered, in my opinion. I should probably be thanking Sharon, too, she's the one that brought it for me. ^_^

But, yeah, I don't believe there ever was a Mass Effect demo made available; maybe there will be for Mass Effect 2 but who knows. If any of your friends own a copy of Mass Effect then definitely ask if you can have a lend of it for a week or so. Alternatively, I bet you could buy it dirt cheap nowadays. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mass Effect going for around £20 on eBay. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
