Mass Effect/Lost Odyssey/Devil May Cry 4

I have to take Bully back on Thursday and I was wondering what game I should rent next. My choices are between Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey and Devil May Cry 4. The game store may not have Lost Odyssey so if you could kindly suggest another one (if that is your first choice), that would be great. :)

I'm not even sure what Devil May Cry is even about and all I really know about Mass Effect is that it is an RPG. Same goes with Lost Odyssey. Also, if you can recommend any other besides the ones I mentioned, please do so. Thanks.

Mass Effect, hell yeah, though you really should buy it.

It is a sci-fi RPG, and it is truly awesome. A bit of the space-opera feel, including the occasionally over-dramatic dialog; but if you held that against a game or a book you'd never read anything. Play anything. Whichever.

The story is really damn good, and so is the gameplay. I'm still working on getting it finished... almost done!

Mass Effect is a great game but im a big fan of Lost Odyssey too. Id always recommend Mass Effect as its a fantastic game and has decent replay value too. If your familiar with any past RPG's made by Bioware then you will know what to expect from Mass Effect (lots of dialog choices and moral decisions). If you have been a Final Fantasy fan over the years Lost Odyssey is very similar and created by the same guy. I actually prefer it to the recent Final Fantasy games by far.

Can't really recommend Mass Effect as a game you rent, 'cause it is fairly long and you'd want to play it over again once you've finished it.

A perfect example of a game you'd want to own instead of rent.

I would agree to be honest as to fully appreciate it you have to complete it more than once. Ive put just over 60 hours into 2 playthroughs of Mass Effect so far and completed it twice and on 3rd playthrough now. Also Lost Odyssey is a big game and might have trouble seeing everything in it in a rental period. Im currently about 30 hours in and have lots more to do in the game before ive seen all it has to offer.

Renting wise, I'd say Devil May Cry 4...because there is not much to do with Dante or Vergil (the stars of all the other DMC games in the franchise) you won't be sitting there going "eh?" the whole time.

It's got a pretty good storyline, lots of action and a decent level of replayability too...

If you were to buy a game...well, I'm torn between ME and LO personally. For the sheer complexity and depth of the storyline and the beautiful graphics I'd say LO, but you need plenty of hours to play it. ME is excellent but whilst there is quite a bit of replay you can do, the main storyline could get a little tedious, for want of a better and possibly less inflammatory word, after the first two/three playthroughs and whilst you have plenty of choices to make, they aren't without limits, obviously. But it's an excellent choice all the same

Thanks everyone, I can see what your all saying about buying these games instead of renting them. Maybe I'll consider buying one later and just rent a sports game for now. :P

I am not a fan of turn based games but Lost oddyssy is an exception you should rent it

I've got 'em all and think they're all great. Devil May Cry 4 is probably my favourite but it's definitely the shortest of the bunch. I clocked up 11 hours of gameplay with Devil May Cry 4 the first time playing through and just under 13 hours for Mass Effect. Still playing through Lost Odyssey but I like what I've seen so far - just gotten a little into disk 2.

I'd recommend Devil May Cry 4 as a rental as you could probably complete that in a few nights whereas Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey would be definite purchases. To be honest, though, if you want to collect all the Devil May Cry 4 achievements and go through all the difficulty modes it will take you a heck of a lot longer to complete it. I've got somewhere in the region of 40 hours under my belt with that game and I've still got at least 15+ hours worth of stuff to do.
