If someone can explain this to me, I'd be grateful!

(Note that we are talking about X, Y co-ordinates, like in battleships or on maps).

(0 , 4) & (7 , -6) & (-7 , 14)
Do the three dots form a straight line?

You are not supposed to draw a coordnite-system.... And then I dont know how to check if they form a line...

Find the differences between the numbers and then find the slope... At least I think thats how you do it. What math class are you taking?

(o, 4) that means 0 is the middle of the grid. the first number is always horizontal, the right is vertical. since its zero the dot stays in the center. then since you have a positive four, you move the dot up by four lines. if its negative you move it down instead

to answer your question. no it doesnt form a straight line.

draw a big cross like + (that) then the point where the 2 lines are touching is 0, and as Man said the first number is horizontal, second is vertical, so if u have positive numbers you either go up or right, negitive numbers go left or down lol. it all depends what the numbers you have are used for but my best guess is what i said ^_^

Point 1 (0,4)
Point 2 (7,-6)
Point 3 (-7,14)

Point 1 to Point 2 difference

X +7 Y -10 Rise over run = -0.7

Point 1 to Point 3 difference

X -7 Y +10 Rise over run = -0.7
Therefore the slope is the same and they form a straight line
