Besides dave writeing 4 songs for kill em all and 2 songs for ride the lighting. I"ve noticed that the speed went down after every cd. Plus they sold out with the sm cd and load and reload. Whats your opnion on this?
Sold out on S&M?.. Nah, S&M was just some special event, KISS did the same, and I think Deep Purple & Guns N' Roses as well if I remember right. It was just their old songs with an orchestra in the background, to give it a more dynamic feel and output. Dave as far as I know can only truly claim Mechanix as his, the other members still had their share in the other songs while he was with them.
I wouldn't say Metallica is overrated, since their work from the 80's deserves it's praise. Besides, alot of people these days are bashing Metallica anyway, if their praising them.. then it's only them praising their old work, not the Metallica of today.
I agree about the speed part, but while more and more songs became a little slower, they still remained very technical. Course, if there's anyone to blame.. it's Bob Rock for completely changing Metallica, even though I really like Black Album... It's just alittle hard to imagine them going from "Hit The Lights" to "Mama Said"... ya know?
Most bands have done a "
sellout" stunt at least once in their career. Megadeth did it with Risk, Metallica did it with Black, they all do it.. And they mainly only do it to gather a wider audience, and to keep their image alive/fresh. Take Slayer for example, they've stuck to the same stuff since the beginning but yet aren't as popular as Megadeth & Metallica, there wasn't any variety with their music.
But I would have to say that those who truly aren't sellouts, are the ones who play their music non-professionally, and do it as a hobby.
