Well, my opinion may be biased here but... Other M (despite the semi-lame title), looks... well you described it well. I''m a longtime fan of the Metroid series, having played (and completed) every one... well except the last boss of the NES one and haven't finished Prime 3 yet... Still, it looks like it's going to fit in nicely between Super Metroid and Metroid: Fusion, in which there is a time gap.
Other M looks like it's going to be a little Metroid Prime, and a little revamped oldschool Samus coming in. I see it this way, they took the 2d Side-scrolling and made it more actiony! YAY!
Anywho, I look forward to it as well and if you are at all interested in the Metroid storyline I'd be happy to find some links to share!
