Microsoft Announces New Console Price Structure for the Xbox 360

Microsoft today confirmed the rumoured Xbox 360 price changes by announcing their new console pricing structure across the UK and the US.

From August 28th, Microsoft's top end console, the 120GB Elite, will now be available for $299.99 in the US and £199.99 in the UK, but won't ship with a HDMI cable anymore.

With the announcement comes the confirmation of the rumoured 360 Arcade price hike in the UK, which now sees the console retail for £159.99, as opposed to the usual £129.99.

Microsoft also confirmed the rumour that their best selling model, the Pro, will finally be phased out. In order to shift the old stock of the dying SKU, Microsoft announced that the model will receive a temporary $50 price cut in the US - whilst stocks last.

I'm perfectly fine with my Arcade. As long as I don't stand it up vertically it won't get the Red Ring of Death.

Also, 360 failrate is 54.6%. Which means more than half of all 360s will get the Red Ring of Death.

I've had mine since last Christmas and haven't had a problem once, but I have a cooling fan so that might be a reason.

Heh. I have only two games for my 360. Waiting until I get enough money to consistently buy XBL and get Rockband 2 for it. I mainly use it as battery juice for my iTouch when I'm going to bed, because my Ps2 won't charge it, but the 360 will. Nothin like staying up for 8 hours watching videos. Lawl.
