Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

One day is nothing, i think thats fair although exploits are the companies fault not the gamers who find them

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

Good point but this was like making copies of a free coupon and giving them to you friends. I think that the responsibility lies on both ends. I'm responsible if I leave my door unlocked but if someone takes my stuff they're not blameless.

Yeah thats true, hopefully Microsoft and Infinity Ward have learned from this and also any other companies who release betas of this nature.

Neither one day or 23.000 user means nothing in the long run. Like taking a leak in the Atlantic.

Yeah another very good point and good way of putting it

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

As long as they banned them for a good reason.

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

its not too aggresive, they just ban gamers who have no respect and are overall jackasses

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

As long as there are games and people Testing games with a populations of gamers people Will always find Exploits. A one day ban is like a slap on the wrist. If I was in charge I would have sent a paralytic Feedback to the X box Causing it to explode somehow.

It would definitely send a message. Now that would be to harsh

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

Honestly - one day is nothing. Even one week would've been nothing. If you ask me, now that I've been thinking for it a bit; one day was just weak. One week would've been perfect.

I still like my idea

I gotta agree with you there Tsuyu, one week does sound perfect. It's atleast enough to send members the message to get their acts together. But what would be better is if they sent a message telling them if they go out of line again, the next banning will be even longer...like

2 weeks, then 4 weeks, 2 months, etc..

That would encourage them to not make those same mistakes on LIVE again.

Doesn't WoW Have a Policy like that?

Dunno, I've never played World of Warcraft before.

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

I went with the group and voted "No", yay for conforming!

But really, don't exploit it just because you can, exploit it because it will **** off Microsoft!

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

I agree with you all this was to weak. One week sounded perfect. Although ive done these exploits with the WoW game (downloading full versions) from their own Homepage. without paying for it

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

The One Day ban will be enough to let people realize that Microsoft is serious. I think it's fine for a first offense. Second offense should a week or month and so on. It's likely that some didn't even realize that it wasn't OK.

Re: Microsoft Bans 23,000 Xbox Live Users

Update Bump:
From Major Nelson:
We did NOT ban tens of thousands of folks yesterday as some are reporting
But he goes on to say:
As many of you know we do sometimes have to take action against accounts and consoles that violate the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use. Although we’re really impressed with the excitement around the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta, I do want to take this moment to point out that that the steps I’ve been reading about that some people have been trying to take to get in on the beta without their own token could very well violate our Terms of Use.
So the problem wasn't that they got the Beta so much as that sharing your account is a violation of the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use

The whole article is here http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/09/06/xbox-live-bans-and-you.aspx

I think its fair as its written in the terms of use and therefore you are breaking a rule that you agreed to when you signed up.
