Microsoft pays $50 million for Xbox GTA game exclusive

Microsoft gets another exclusive!
They are obviously aware the it's the games that matter and are willing to pay to get them.

Remarkable scale of exclusive deal

The unprecedented scale of the $50m deal is indicated by the fact that it exceeds Take-Two's average quarterly revenue of $43 million received from all its Xbox 360 titles combined.
Take-Two subsidiary Rockstar, which is developing the game, plans to release GTA IV in on October 16, 2007. The initial release is expected simultaneously for both Sony's PS3 console and the Xbox 360

Given the amount of Money it doesn't seem likely

It's a pretty bold move. I think it was more a move against Nintendo than Sony. I think it was likely to go to the Wii it would be a good fit for it there actually.

Very interesting find, and i cant see GTA IV ever going to the Wii personally. Its hardware couldnt handle it from what ive seen and also people are complaining about mature games such as Manhunt appearing on the Wii and the Wiimotes uses in violent games. +rep

It wont effect the release on both consoles it will only tie into downloadable content anyway, which the 360 is hands down always going to be better at as it has an established download marketplace.
