Mixed Emotions.

Well, I just borrowed Fable from a friend and played it on my 360 (btw its glitchy as hell on the 360) at first I loved it, but after awhile of playing I started to get mad at the game. It just seemed like the game fell flat in certain aspects such as "making a class". You can "choose" to be a warrior, archer or mage, but no matter which class you choose in the end you will have to rely on a sword to finish anyone off. It was over hyped by the creator Peter Molyneux (he should just keep his mouth shut when the game is being promoted). Not to mention that you play the whole game making decisions to be good or evil but in the end it doesn't matter. Despite how evil you are the people that are afraid of you still ask you to help them (do good deeds) then act surprised when you attack them... ? ...

Anyway, I'm not saying Fable sucked, just that it was hyped up to be a this perfect game and I was just a little disappointed in the outcome.

Now with Fable 2 coming out in October 2008 and seeing all the great stuff Mr. Molyneux said is going to be added to the game. I'm starting to have mixed emotions about Fable 2, even though I'm looking forward to this game the most out of all the new games coming out at the end of this year.

Let me know what you guys think.
What did you guys think about the final product of Fable? Did it live up to all the hype for you?
Does anyone else have mixed emotions about how Fable 2 will turn out?

Re: Mixed Emotions.

that is hard to say if fable 2 will be good or not

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I felt the same way with the first Fable game. Peter promised us all these cool, groundbreaking features that would change RPG's forever. And while Fable did a great deal of good, I can't help but think of how Peter deceived us.

So when Fable 2 was Finally announced, I was anxious to listen to Peter, once again, describe this fantasic new world chalk full of bold new features. But this time, I was going to call BS! But after listening to him talk, and in alot of cases, apologize, for over-hyping the first game, he says he realized how wrong he was and PROMISES that this time the team at LH will get it right. He says they had bold ideas that the Xbox couldn't handle due to it's hardware, but now that they have the power of the 360 all of thier ideas now can be carried out. Those promises, coupled with the fact that they have been working on this game for 3+ years, lead me to believe this time Peter may have gotten it right. *

Re: Mixed Emotions.

Lets hope he has learn from his mistakes, or at least talks to the his team before he goes out talking about the game. I'm excited for this game but at the same time I can wait for it.
Regardless I'm still going to buy it.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I really believe Fable 2 will far surpass Fable TLC, in just about everything. It has 180,000 lines of conversation. The NPC's will all have their own individual stories. You'll even have a Father-In-Law, when you're married.
Peter is determined that this game will meet everyones expectations. Of course there are a few that will never be happy. But me, personally, can't wait.:)

Re: Mixed Emotions.

fable was a great game, i still play it to this day. and fable 2 should be even better, unless we get a black and white 2 mistake.. :(

I loved Fable TLC. I will love Fable 2 even more, because it'll be more of a challenge.:) And a whole new story.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I've not played TLC. I seen it in Book and Music Exchange for $20, but my friend gave me the original game. I didn't want to buy TLC if I already had Fable.
Am I missing out on anything special?

I know the TLC, is longer. I don't know the other differences. JWC, does very well, I believe, if he was on, and I'm sure a lot of other people, who mod it. Look in the TLC, section, I bet there's some answers.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I really dont listen to much to video game hype bc i know ill get let down. But fable changed the way of rpgs in diffrent ways........and fable 2 will be even more groundbreaking. But whith all he is saying it should be a very well developed game that will inspire more to be like it. Just that october is a long ways away.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I didn't think it was too ground breaking and RPG's are mostly my favorite genre.
There are a lot of things I didn't like about the game. It was way too short first of all. It didn't matter if you were good or evil, it all took you to the same outcome the only difference is how you looked at the end. I could go around and kill hundreds of innocent people then toss some gold in a well and people acted like nothing happened. The fact that you can BUY the best weapon in the game (not counting the one at the end because you already BEAT THE GAME!) before you can get any of the legendary weapons. For example: Before I could pull the "legendary sword out of the stone" I already had the Solus Greatsword... which was almost 3 times better then this almighty sword. Hmm here is a choice... spend all your time trying to pull this great sword out of stone OR just go tele to a shop and buy one thats so much better. The fact that you cant be just one class, when it boils down to using the sword in the end anyway (WTF is a "Spellwarrior"?!). You cant be a mage bc you will just turn into a Redmage type character.

Even though I have a lot of complaints with the game, there was still enough of the game I liked. Enough to where I and psyched to play the second one. I give fable over all a 6.8/10 and thats not including all the glitches in the game (like my character looking green and yellow with leaves painted on his face and half of an NPC's face imprinted on my back) just because I played it on my 360.

I had fun playing it, even though my girlfriend didn't enjoy watching me.

To me it was an attempt to making Fable 2 (assuming its going to be as good as Molyneux says).

Re: Mixed Emotions.

BLASPHOMY!!!

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I loved Fable, Fable TLC, and I will love Fable 2, I love it's little faults and take no notice of the hype. Fable was the first video game that I played and thought, they made this game for me

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I also really liked to play Fable, even now. Then I think of all the stuff that would have been better, the game feels like it`s kinda incomplete.
Fable is great as it is... Its just that if you think too much of the stuff that wasn`t there, it ruins the fun.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

Its not blasphemous to give my opinion on a game, the game is not a God or sacred thing. It's just how I feel about it. I DID say I liked the game.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

Fable was an awesome game and the only people who really got let down were the people listening to all the Hype i didn't listen to the hype and loved it so did all my friends and we're all going to be queing up for Fable 2 because PM makes really good games!!!

I don't try to listen to all the hype over a video game and the only people who I listen to about certain games are the people with the same taste in games as me.
BUT
I JUST beat the game yesterday... almost 4 years after it came out. All I heard about this game was how great it was and how I NEED to play it. I don't even own it, it was lent to me from a friend. I decided to play it because I wanted to play Fable 2.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I read about Fable in a magazine and thought, wow, it`s great. When I finally got it, I was like, WOW, it IS great.
And after I read all the things PM promised, I thought, it`s still great, but should have been better.

In the last PM, interview at E3, Peter even admitted he made a lot of promises, he just wasn't skilled enough at the time to make happen. I think Fable 2 will be about filling a lot of promises, and making sure, he never makes the same mistakes, again. I think he's more than paid for past mistakes.

Re: Mixed Emotions.

I saw that interview too, it was nice of him to say these things and it seemed the disappointment of fans had an impact on him.
