Mobile Phone Problem

I lost my charger for my phone about 2 years ago (I just bought a new one online so any solutions to this problem will be temporary) so I usually use my laptop or my xbox to charge my phone. It's weird, when I plug it in it says it's charging and the battery is going up but when I unplug it, it says 'Low battery' and turns off so I can only use it when it's connected to something.

It was fine a few days ago, but now it's being a piece of sh*t.

What sort of phone do you have? Usually when you plug it into a laptop it asks what action you want to take (charge, turn into USB drive, transfer data etc) have you made sure you have selected the appropriate one?

Samsung Genio S3650, a fairly old one. It used to come up saying things like "Look through media files" and "Import files" but since I bought a new sim card a month or so back, it doesn't say anything.

I'm a mong-goid. There's what essentially is a 'charging' option in the settings.. I feel like a noob.

No problem, had many phone issues in the past myself.
