I think there should be an American mod, Every mod now lives in the UK or Sweeden... which makes it hard for every mod to be on since you guys live in the same time zone, so when you guys aren't on an American might be on. if it's night there you would probably be asleep, and an american would probably be on when it's day.

What we really need is an Aussie mod. And since I'm the most active Aussie...:ninja::shifty:

But it all comes down to what the admins think is right. I'm sure if we needed another mod, and there was a suitable candidate, we'd have it. And Sephi and AK might not want to be mods. You never know.

There are lots of factors to consider so please be understanding in this. Given that we haven't had much luck lately with staff, we need to be 110% sure of anyone (if anyone) we take on.

Albion Knight is a mod over at ACX but he also has a home life and two jobs, so we didn't want to swamp him with 2 sites and the need to be online and active when he should be with his family or working. Sephi is already a mod at the resident evil forums but also has limited internet access these days, so is unable to maintain a regular presence at the moment.

Other people have been considered in the past but we largely look for maturity, objectivity, a thick skin and the ability to keep their temper (for the most part ) and be able to deal with disruptive people, even if they are personal friends. That can be the hardest bit...

Rest assured, it is being discussed but we need everyone to decide, not just one or two. The porn situation is a recent-ish issue and is due to the little beggars getting around our system which happens. I've got an idea though but it may affect all new members so I'll need to run it by Steve to make sure it's a good idea - I'll get back to you all on that

Ahh..that's our dummy HQ. The one everyone targets but find nothing! NOTHING!!!

Sorry guys - with regards to bot issue I can't make the changes I wanted to - the forum script won't support it. I was going to make it so all new members couldn't post images or links until they had reached 5 or 10 posts to filter out the spammers but we can't do that

I'll keep working on it though...

I've seen it done on other forums but they don't use VBulletin so they suck anyway

It's more used on sites dedicated to things like web development and the like but they all seem to use a different thingy other than VBulletin so I'll have to do some digging and see what we can do...the links aren't so bad coz if you click on them then you're just an idiot but the images are horrendous and need sorting...

Yeah, it's like they are slapped right in your face - WHAM! Members can avoid them, but we have to enter that godforsaken thread to edit it away... and it wears you down in the long run.

haha im a member on another vbulletin site (ls1tech) and a spammer came in and posted up some porn. Lets just say that the mods were asleep and the online guys had a field day dissecting the pics hahahaa.

MySql and PHP...

There are mods we can install but they really really tax the servers and what is the point in having them to keep bots out if the site crashes every twenty seconds? It's a pain, really...

Adding an If-condition to see of someone has over X posts when the post an image can't frick with things that much? Or am I wrong?

It's coz we already have quite a lot of extras installed...including the benefits of those who pay to be Premium Members.

I have asked Steve and he'll look further into it but if it's going to make the site go down on a regular basis (which happened a lot in the past due to a similar reason) then we might have to go down a different route, if one exists...
