Re: Molyneux's Reaction to F2's Reviews

I recently read the OXM UK review and it certainly sounds like Fable 2 has its faults. The most frustrating part of it is that most of the faults are technical; from bad slowdown and glitches to buggy menus.

I'm also not keen on the fact that you cannot die during combat, instead losing a bit of EXP and returning to the scrap. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I always get bored of games with a lack of challenge.

Even the money side of things sounds like a waste of time before too long.

I may actually wait and see if the developers release a patch in the coming months before I part with my cash.

I may sound a bit harsh, but in a game that swallows up massive amounts of time I really need to know that I am definitely going to enjoy the game. Oblivion disappointed me with the enemies that grew in strength with my hero and Fable 2 sounds like another game that is trying to please too many casual types with its simplicity.

Not my comment ^^ but interested me. If the game has bugs that are technical then I will be dissapointed, I expect a games console game to simply just work, but as I havent played it yet I will judge it on any bugs that affect me if any, but I hope it isnt a case where they spent so much time making the world look nice and then let it have technical issues.

I funnily enough agree with 2 of his points, if you dont die in combat then that just sounds stupid you are basically then invincible, I perfectly understand the need to not make a game too hard but to make it so you cant die is pretty bad, can anyone confirm you cant die?
Also his point about monsters getting stronger, it is something I noticed in fable 1 as well, eg. early game bandits are weak, later game you have better srowd and armour, problem is so do the bandits so you dont really have any gain from the better weapon. Although some areas in fable1 keep the weaker enemies. Obviously fable 2 cannot be too hard it will turn too many people off, when people complain a game is too easy whilst they using legendary weapons, tips of the internet etc. they need to realise the game will be designed in that you can get through it with only basic unhidden weapons unless of course a legendary weapon is picked up as part of the storyline, fighting with physical shield in fable 1 is easy but again not everyone will have physical shield, I only started using it after reading tips on the net. So I disagree with him in that he thinks the game should be hard for experienced gamers as that would turn off new people, but I agree with 2 of his points.
