MSN Added To Xbox 360

Microsoft has just announced the launch of Windows Live Messenger on Xbox 360, connecting friends across Xbox 360 consoles, Microsoft Windows based PCs and Windows Mobile powered devices. With this update to Xbox 360, friends and families can easily connect and chat directly from their television using Windows Live Messenger, a network of more than 20 billion relationships and more than 260 million active accounts. It will be added on May 7th along with the new dashboard update.

The Update is free and is accessible to every Xbox 360 owner.

Sounds a little bit like an overkill really - doesn't Xbox Live already got a nice chat system?

Yeah but this will also give people the opportunity to chat when not gaming and such and can only boost the appeal for a 360 as familys could use it to that arent into games (steering towards PC users and Home Entertainment System borderlines).

Plus with the ability of audio and video calls and the Xbox 360 having an excellent webcam and mic with Xbox Live it will save people splashing out on PC ones that might not be compatible and such.

 thats funny.

People can just plug USB keyboards straight into the 360 anyway and use them.

it's molesting it, I assume... in total ridiculous fashion...

It snaps onto the 360 controller and plugs into the headset jack (which is replicated so you can still use it). The 47 button keyboard should work well with the just announced Live messenger functions coming in the Spring update, and Gamespot says it will be released in Summer.

it's Ridiculous... :noexpression:

Sitting here, controller in-hand, I can say that the whole thing would feel.... bulky. It looks as if it makes the controller too big or something.

Well i dont imagine you will still keep it there when gaming so probably wont need to access to many other buttons.

How does chatting in Xbox Live work now? Would this help at all?

Not entirely sure as i dont have live but its similar to the video and audio calls from MSN but to a less complex degree i think and less options.

Helps people understand how it clips on now, nice find Todd.
That's what I was thinking. It doesn't look too cumbersome.
