Multiple Albions.

"GameSpy: One of the themes of Fable II is providing the player with the freedom to change the world around them. How does this impact level design?
Iain Wright: It has a huge effect on the way we structure and build the regions, in some cases a single region can drastically change in as many as five major ways with variants and combinations within that. We have to build and keep track of all of those potential changes and when they get switched on and off. We also have the more standard changes like time of day, weather and seasons.

One of the great things about being able to play Fable II online with friends is that you can see firsthand how different their world is in comparison to yours, and it's extremely unlikely that everyone will make the same choices across the entire game. Expect to see a lot of different versions of Albion."

Myself and a couple other members have been discussing this for a while, and now that I actually found the interview I was looking for, I thought I'd post it.

Re: Multiple Albions.

Well what exactly have you been discussing?

Re: Multiple Albions.

Well, this makes online co-op much, much more fun!!

Re: Multiple Albions.

How much different entities can change the landscape of Albion. Say for instance Dark Drakan plays an evil hero, who hoards all his money, then the world is affected by him in a negative manner. The streets are filled with poor homeless people, and the cities themselves are dilapidated and run down, with crime at an all time high in albion at the end of his game. Well if I play a good hero and I give back to the people and the city, then you would see the trade in the city flourish, and the people would live better with less crime and less people out of a home at the end of my game.

The theory is, is that when you play different heroes, then you get different results of what your Albion looks like. Not only does Evil - Good play a part, but all the modifiers will all take part in how Albion looks. Especially if you like to hoard all your money. lol.

Re: Multiple Albions.

Now while reading your example of the world of Dark Drakan my mind was ignited when I THOUGHT that you were going to lead into a very interesting aspect of co-op that I had never thought of. What if you entere Drakan's world being a good virtuous Hero and put effort towards stimulating the economy of his Albion? Now think of how this could be a useful aspect of co-operative play. If I am an Evil Hero, which I am, and I want to kill the majority of the people of a small town to strike fear into their hearts and make the massive horns on my head a little bigger. BUT, I do know that this town has the potential to become a thriving location that can supply me with what I need for my journeys as well as maybe providing some income for me if I choose to own the land. Now if I kill them so long for that opportunity. But if I get a friend to help me out, they can come into my world, aid the few survivors of said town after I've had my way, and help them re-establish themselves!

Just a thought. lol.

Re: Multiple Albions.

Well as for my previous example, it can work a number of ways. Drakan could be evil, and still give back to the community, and I could be a good guy and hoard all my money. The whole thing is, is that there are going to be many different playing styles and many differently shaped Albions. I'm not very good with math, but they said in the interview that there were multiple changes INSIDE the fact that there are atleast five different major changes to each region. So I'm thinking this is going to be very cool to experiment with friends and see just how much you can vary the way the world looks. Which is what I was originally getting at. Also Velez, they said you don't just have to kill innocent people to be evil. That's kind of cut and dry and they are trying to get away from that. I'm assuming the whole "I'm evil and I kill people because I want to!" thing is going to have a level of corruption. Now if you want to be pure evil, you could just take over the world, by monetary means, and then starve everyone to death. lol. I can't wait for this game.

Re: Multiple Albions.

I prefer slaughtering a woman's family before her eyes, then cutting her in half so quick that her mind still has time to process the sight of me lifting her legs away from her as she dies... I'm old fashioned but that's just me.

Re: Multiple Albions.

Aww man im seriously looking forward to going into a pals game and burning down his castle while chanting 'We Will rock you' over and over, then impale his family onto a single spear and spitroast them into a honeyglazed ham, eat them for dinner, then go to bed knowing that ive just ruined my friends game.

On another note: im going to be Good alignment xD
