MW2 restarting issue

Ok, so I'm playing MW2 on PC, and every so often it will just spontaneously restart th computer. No warning, nothing. Just power off, and restart. Much like if the computers power supply was interrupted.

I managed to get up to the mission Contingency in Act III, and up till now it was pretty random. But now every time I make it to the ridge, and you take control of the UAV thing, it restarts. I cannot play past this point. It's seriously annoying me, and I want to know if anyone knows how to fix it.

Sometimes, certain games will overwork your process (or other components) and the fans are not able to sustain working condition. The computer automatically restarts to relieve the parts. That's my guess. It kept happening to me on TLC when I did the Bandit Camp before upgrading my comp.

Solution: Try cleaning out all filters and completely vacuuming the computer. If that doesn't work then I don't know what to say :/

God damnit.

The more annoying thing is that it's not my computer, so I'm not exactly free to go tinkering.

I've played half of that mission like a hundred times.

The upside is that you can get a cheap, simple PSU that will do the job.

You could try to find one of those electronic surplus stores. There's one near my house and I got two power supplies for 10 U.S. Dollars. I don't know if they'll have 'em in your area though.

This just in: Apparantly it's not the power supply. My dad tried it with another power supply (500 watts, apparantly. Is that a lot? I don't know), and still the same problem.

I'll wait until Tuesday when hopefully I'll get my computer back (as well as my VCE results), and I'll try it on there, see if I get the same problem. They're similar systems, so hopefully I'll be able to eliminate some possibilities.

Have you tried turning off Automatic System Restart in the Startup and recovery settings and seeing if it gives you an error instead of just automatically restarting the system? Might help narrow the problem down at least if it does.

That reminds me - You can also check out the Event Viewer to see Application errors. These event logs are rather cryptic, but sometimes they'll provide information that can be searched on Google for more user friendly information.

Event Viewer can be found under Administration Tools in the Start menu, I think it can also be accessed in the Control Panel.

Thanks guys, I'll try these suggestions once I can get access to the computer again.

Try applying the Patch Crack

What's the patch crack? Bear in mind if it's illegal (pirating software), we can't discuss it here.
