My dog not finding treasure anymore, any help?

My dog is no longer searching for treasure nor any dig spots. I have treasure hunting books 1-3 but still nothing. It seems to have started after downloading the see the future content, though on my other files my dog still searches for treasure, dig spots, etc without fail, so I'm not entirely convinced that is the problem. I also used a potion to change his breed and then changed back to see if that may have fixed the problem but still no improvement. At this point I've looked everywhere to see if anyone else has had this issue but found nothing similar. Anyone know what's going on and how to fix this without deleting this file and starting all over again?

Are you certain that there is treasure that has yet to be found in the locations that you're in? If so, try getting the fourth treasure hunting book.

Maybe download knothole island and start a new game so at the end choose sacrifice so ur dog stays dead and then revive him on knothole island in the dog tomb thing

I have stood directly in front of treasure chests with him and waiting to see if he would detect them and still nothing. Getting the next book will be my next option and see what happens, but the store is not selling the 4th book and i cannot dig up the next book 'cuz my bloodhound is a very horrible bloodhound so its feeling like a vicious cycle here.

I have already downloaded knothole island, on this file i havent gotten to that part of the main quest to chose sacrifice option yet. I really would rather try to do it without having to start over. I've already done the sacrifice option with another file and want to try other ones this time with this one.
