Need help with "The Rescue"

After completing the game and buying the FairFax castle, I married a woman and had a child with her. A few hours later I got "The Rescue" added to my quest list, and when I set the trail it brings me to Fairfax. As I enter fairfax the trail goes away, and I can't find my wife anywhere.

It tells me my kid is stuck in a cave, and I don't know which one. It also tells me to find my wife, and she's nowhere in the castle, or in fairfax.

Also, my wife was divorcing me when the quest showed up, but now it says she's happy. It's confusing me, and I don't know if she's left me but it says she's still with me, or she's just playing hide and seek.

This happens more than you know and it drives most people nuts.

The Rescue is glitched to hell and back - I don't know if they've fixed it yet but I've still got it as a quest which I can't do so I've given up on it.

Try leaving the area for a bit and coming back - your wife might spawn or she might be in Bloodstone (another popular spawn point for wayward wives).

As for her wanting to divorce you and then being happy, that happens a lot too. I had a husband ingame who, in his stats, said he was really happy and in love but whenever I saw him to give him a gift or whatever, he'd run away screaming. Dunno why...of course, I fried the previous 12 spouses with maxed out Lightning so perhaps he heard I was easily displeased....? :devil:

I found out that you should never live in Fairfax Castle with a family and if you recieve the quest you should check out the Hobbe cave sometimes you would find the trail but if you dont just forget about the quest and if want to know why it such a idea just read Lucians bio
