new idea for armor and combat.

in real life if your wearing chainmail it makes you heavier so you would technically be able to do more damadge due to the added weight of the armor and also if you punch somebody with metal gloves on its going to hurt because your not hitting them with skin your hitting them with metal. i think this should be kept in mind since peter is trying to go for more realistic combat. also while im at it they NEED to make hand to hand combat weapons. if they dont..... well ill still play but id still like to have that feature. maybe a hand to hand skill or just spike gauntlets for armor. and since it 500 years later maybe brass nuckles or something.

Very interesting idea, id like to see the weight aspect and material used more like that aswel.

I also like the idea of the hand to hand combat weapons such as spike gauntlets etc, could make for some interesting stealth kills.

Spiked gauntled would be pretty cool. Spiked body armor too, the kind that damages your oppenents when they attack you. In addition you could throw a spiked elbow to someones face. I still want to hit run over someone while holding a sheild. Body weight would make a big difference in that attack.

This sounds great... I like that peter wants to implement weight into combat to add damage and etc., but will this also affect the player's stance? We've seen games before where weight of weaponry and armor can affect the player's speed, but I'm talking about missing an attack in full body armor and your own momentum pulling you off balance and possibly knocking you down? This would be a fantastic addition to the gameplay in my opinion and I'd love to see it happen. Also, in real life completely whiffing a punch or attack tires you out more than if it's simply blocked. Will either of these be added to the game in addition to wieght/damage ratio?

The weight factor would be most interesting, especially if you could use that aspect in terms of what you can destroy. For instance, you could ram up against a table in a tavern and it could fly into the air and even be used as a projectile for killing townspeople for the most evil of players.

If armour is to be weighted then I reckon if you knock someone down who has full body armour on then it should take them longer to get back on their feet because of how heavy they are.

if youv'e noticed in the game your strenght can be 0 and you can wear platemail, I would like to see a skill meter for weapon and armor whieght ya know mabey 500 for the first upgrade and 10,000 for the last.... it would be neet for you to build it up so you can carry heavier weapons and armor more effectively.

also you should be able to have spikes on your knees.
another idea is being able to snap necks use sleeper holds for stealth kills and headbutting.

Speaking of creative and evil, there should be a type of dark knight armor or something, that when worn, is extremely powerful for players with darkest alignment. Anyone else who wheres it gets a health drain and a handicap. If an evil character uses this armor, they'll be owning all of Albion!!! The boots could smash villagers' skulls into dust, the gauntlets could instantly break someone's neck, etc. However, having this murderous evil armor would mean some serious setbacks. Perhaps you would move slower than usual and could not jump as high (if that was even included) or cast spells as well within your walking fortress. I'm just brainstorming crap over here. Tell me any good ideas you have regarding the armor and combat system. I always like to hear new ideas.

hey you mean like the battle gauntlets in the pc game sacred for the gladiators couse those are kool. If youve played sacred then youll now what i mean but yea gauntlets would be nice.

yeah, props,man.....and if u have a super huge sward and ur facing an enamy, with a little pice of crap, it would be cool to beable to break it in half.

I played Sacred- good game, a bit repetitive though. Fable needs some nice gauntlets and stuff, to where if you punch someone with them on, you get your point pretty clear that you want to break their neck!

I would like to be able to augment your armor

Here are some Augments that could work
  • Speed (Could be combat or running)
  • Strength
  • Toughness
  • Mana
  • Health
  • Experience
  • Camouflage or Invisibility
  • Float (Like JoB)
  • Protection from (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Piercing, Blunt, Slashing)
